Ahh...the same useless drivel. No wonder you can't convince anyone to stop harping on people about spelling. It's like fighting idiots (the people who get mad about spelling) with idiots (your arguments).
Thanks for the fast reply though, that sure was sweet. 😉
Go...To move or travel; proceed: We will go by bus. Solicitors went from door to door seeking donations. How fast can the boat go?
To move away from a place; depart: Go before I cry.
To pursue a certain course: messages that go through diplomatic channels to the ambassador.
To resort to another, as for aid: went directly to the voters of her district. See Synonyms at resort.
To extend between two points or in a certain direction; run: curtains that go from the ceiling to the floor.
To give entry; lead: a stairway that goes to the basement.
To function properly: The car won't go.
Away...From a particular thing or place: ran away from the lion; sent the children away to boarding school.
At or to a distance in space or time: We live a block away from the park.
At or by a considerable interval: away back in the 17th century; away off on the horizon.
In a different direction; aside: glanced away.
On the way: We want to get away early in the day.
In or into storage or safekeeping: put the toys away; jewels locked away in a safe.
Out of existence or notice: The music faded away.
So as to remove, separate, or eliminate: chipped the paint away; cleared away the debris.
From one's possession: gave the tickets away.
Continuously; steadily: toiled away at the project for more than a year.
Freely; at will: Fire away!
nope, i think i got it right. . .i thought i was the one that couldnt read

pardon me for walking into this 'debate' but what exactly is the arguement of this thread? that it is discriminating against members who have not got english as their second lanuage? (to which i most certainly agree) or is it just plain rude of people to auto correct spelling (here i'm undecided myself as this can help make some people's posts become clearer, but if it is so close to the correct spelling then most people might know what that particular person is talking about).
Is it any wonder that many members of this site don't use the forum, and can this be a fundamental reason for it?
that's my two pence worth, and i'm afraid that my spelling is rather dodgy sometimes.

You are weird. Like most of your other posts, you leave me completely clueless about your intent.
"I tend to disagree, and this is why".
Self explanitory, i'm sure you'll agree.
"What would your honest opinion be about an editorial writer who could not spell correctly or even take the time to proofread/spellcheck his writing?"
This part of your post makes me think that you wish to compare editorial writers to people who post on this site, and also comparing the mistakes of a poster on this site to said Editorial writer..
"I doubt many people would take this writer seriously".
This implies that you do not take someone who misspells a word seriously (stop me if i'm wrong)
"If said writer cared about his opinion, or perhaps wanted other people to take him seriously, he would take the time to re-read what he wrote and make sure that it is sound."
This implies that someone who spells a word wrong doesnt care about what he is writing, because if an editorial writer did it, you would not think he cared.
"I don't care if someone doesn't normally speak English, the same rule applies. If you care about getting your message across, take the time to make sure that the message has no spelling errors".
This part (a quote i might add), makes me think that you believe that ,regardless of the reason, you do not take someone seriously if they spell a word wrong.
"Of course, if somebody DOESN'T care, then why should I?"
hmmm.
Im summary. it is my belief that you disregard the ideas and statements of someone who spells a word wrong, regardless of the reason.
Now where did i make a mistake???

as long as the meaning is there it doesn't matter about the spelling!
I understood all the threads regardless of the words used to re-enforce the points made
fair play huckleberryhound for you reasoning and valid points raised

My biggest problem is with this idea. I didn't imply anything and whatever you thought I did imply was only created from your own imagination. My comment was that they don't have enough respect for their own words to make it presentable. It had nothing to do with MY respect for their words, no matter how you try to make me seem like a xenophobe.
The only time that I let you all in on my opinion over someone else's writing was when I posed a rhetorical question meant to make you think.
You took it as an attack, which is something it still doesn't even remotely resemble. This attack that you percieved is imbedded deeply in some sort of implied offense against people from other countries. In my opinion, you were trying to start a fight with me because I disagree with you that spelling isn't important, and that is about one step away from what trolls do.
Thanks for finally analyzing my comment though.

The debate was abandoned long ago 🙂
That's cool though that you agree with huckleberry though. I'm not trying to win a popularity contest, hehe.
Originally posted by Draxusi would like to see the quote where i suggested you were a poor chess player.

Originally posted by huckleberryhoundSure, I thought it was kind of funny that you made it a part of your argument. I obviously didn't quote everything though. To see the real post, it is a couple of pages back.
i would like to see the quote where i suggested you were a poor chess player.
"I have looked at the top 30 chess players on this site.
Among them there is
3 Dutch
4 Germans
1 Dane
1 Belgian
1 Italian
1 Bulgarian
1 Pole
1 south African
& 1 Czech.
Thats nearly half of the top 30 chess players on this site (all who are better than you by the way) who live in countries where English is not their first language"
Originally posted by DraxusThat is pretty mean to say and quite pointless HHH, why didn't you just leave the bracket content out?

the facts are there in black and white, and i have no intention of rehashing them for you, as i believe it would be easier getting blood from a stone, than making you see them for what they are.
I have made my points, and stated my case.
You can now take your stance as the victim of my ubridled rage in peace, as i believe you are no longer taking on any of the issues, and you are welcome to any of the points you are now trying to score.
