So now that I am grown and married with one ankle biter and another on the way, and a respectable job with a decent salary...I have learned one fundamental truth...being poor sucks. My family is great and I would not trade my responsibilities for anything. Just a post for me to rant and complain...looked over finances with wifey today and naturally, we talk about all expenses. I told her I wanted to rejoin RHP and become a subscriber and she informed me that the budget can't support my frivolous hobbies...which frustrated me because I know we have plenty of money to support a RHP membership...I felt like this was something that I enjoy doing with only mild shenanigans and none of the foolishness of my earlier years but she is far better with money than I and if she says no I guess that’s the way it is...a recap being poor sucks...what are your thoughts.😳🙁:'(😞

Sorry to hear of your situation.

Being poor does suck, more so for adults than children though.

I grew up very poor but did not know any different until I was a teenager.

Poor is relative really.

You have a family. You're rich. You're just short on cash.

You can always bargain with her or hint that it would make a great birthday/anniversary/insert-occasion-here gift.

Try rubbing her feet real sweetly.

Just remember there are a lot of people out there who are a LOT worse off than you.

It's probably not really the 30$ she doesn't want to spend. I think she's worried about going to bed alone while you're at PtIG every night.

I can not wear jeans. When I was a kid we were so poor that my mother made me wear hand-me-down jeans from some kid named "Tommy". I didn't really know him, all I knew was my family took him in because they paid my mom some money.

All the other kids in school had nice, fancy looking clothes. I had to wear Tommy's old baggy jeans. They used to laugh at me and it hurt. I swore to myself that some day I'd make enough money to buy my own clothes and NEVER have to wear jeans again!

Well, I started working when I was 15 yrs old... and I've never worn jeans since.

That is interesting. Crazy and scary how things that happen in your childhood shape the rest of your adult life.

We were so poor, we could not afford a real floor, so we had plywood.

I come from a good home with enough money. I wasn't lacking anything (and still aren't) in my childhood. I lived in the best neighborhood in Denmark with the really rich and the famous (in Denmark). And I still started working when I was 11. Something about learning the value of a buck earned.

I pay crazy taxes so illegals can take advantage of the system. They can collect food stamps and welfare and social security and have all the benefits plus some of being a citizen all with out actually being a citizen...they get all of this and I can't even subscribe to my beloved RHP yet another reason for stricter border policies.
