I actually think alerted posts should be frozen and not able to be removed by the poster themselves (before the mods have had a chance to view the offending post).

the post was entitled "benevolent dictator" so it seems to me that is was a range that was implied.

some better than others, for dictators of course.

and I think benito deserves a mention for being quite on the light side of things.

there were no Italians at the Nuremberg trials.

getting paid a nickel a word
seems almost patently absurd
his credit rating is zero
he thinks he's a hero
but the general consensus is catturd

Err, under his leadership, squads of militants attacked, beat and killed fellow Italians; later, once he had become the authoritarian ruler of Italy, he oversaw brutality in Ethiopia, an alliance with Hitler and the persecution of Italy’s Jewish population and others, among other crimes.

On the light side of dictatorship?!

Which part of my post was incorrect?

Mussolini’s rule was marked by brutal suppression and a quest for dominance.

He swiftly eradicated political opposition, outlawing all dissenting parties by 1926 and imposing strict censorship on the press. Those who dared challenge his authority faced imprisonment or worse, such as the famous author Antonio Gramsci.

Internationally, he pursued expansionist goals, unleashing horrific violence in Libya and Ethiopia. Italian forces employed gas attacks, established concentration camps, and massacred civilians, leaving 50,000 of the native civilians dead and uncountable more displaced in Libya.

In Ethiopia, such was the scale of the brutality that, at the time, nearly 8% of Ethiopia’s entire population was wiped out, with numbers ranging anywhere from 30,000 to 60,000. His alliance with Adolph Hitler and Imperial Japan facilitated further atrocities and helped inflame the Holocaust.

In collaboration with the Nazis, Mussolini oversaw the persecution and deportation of Italian Jews, leading to countless deaths.

@Paul-Martin
I have found that best thing to do with gentlemen like yourself is just to say "good day to you sir, best of luck"

guten abend.
