Why are the blitz games not rated? Perhaps a five minute game IS too fast for a true rating to show up, but surely the twenty or the twenty-five minute games would indicate a true indication of chess smarts which creates your rating! Actually, almost ANY game, no matter the time indicates a real understanding of WHEN it's productive to think and when it's almost rote moves that can be done without much thought! I believe these should be added in some way into our ratings, maybe loaded for 1/2 or 1/3 the change that would take place in a real game with std time limits. I absolutely cannot stand waiting a full day for someone to get around to making a move!!! After all, someone who takes a full day to make his move has time to "Model' the game on several chess programs and get the two or three BEST moves for any given positions, which isn't fair to the rest of us who simply play as though the other person is in the room with us! I know of no program that can give usable answers in less than the 30 seconds or so available in even a twenty-five minute game!

Blitz isn't rated as Russ hasn't coded it yet, it's a sideline to this the main site.
As for comments on CC games here - "Modelling" as you call it - more widely known as Engine (computer) use - is not tolerated. You've agreed to that when you agreed to the TOS when you signed up, as have other players. Any suspicions you have should be raised with the game moderators - you can find them via the site map, which is near the TOS link at the bottom of this, and every other page on the site.
Originally posted by Gary ThomasI sometime take over 20 minutes to make move in correspondence not like blitz, because i try my best to cover every move but sometimes i just play stupid like any person. And this site is for people who dont want fast chess, so i can take as much time i want to make my move. I only have 10 games in progress and 4 is waiting my move and i dont feel like making it now. Blitz is there just for fast chess if you want and should not be rated because it is not the basic thing.

WOW! If this site is only for people who don't want fast chess, I obviously joined the wrong group. I don't mind someone taking an occasional twenty minutes to really consider the whole board, but if making one move every three days is your type of game, why didn't you stick with snail-mail for your moves?? A postcard usually gets anywhere within the N American Continent in three days!
No I'm NOT trying to say people who want to play this way shouldn't have their way, BUT, don't tell ME that this site is exclusively for people who feel that way, either! There's room for both, but I personally will not play someone who habitually takes a day to make one move! Life's too short. When I offer a game I'll put some comment such as "Multi-moves/day only, please"! Is this viable??? I've never tried it so I don't know if I can do it, but I will sure try as I do NOT want to get into a buncha games that go on and on!!
Another problem is that anyone who uses Snail-mail to send "Code" Such as NE7 - F5 is GOING TO BE profiled, arrested and tortured to death by our wonderful new D(ep't) of H(omeland) S(ecurity) to "Protect" our "'merikin Way o' liafe!" You know, the same idiots who make us take our shoes off in all airports!!

This is correspondence chess. The blitz link is for faster games. The rating is a number in a database, which will mean nothing when you're a pile of dusty worm food.
You *can* put a note in the game title to say "multi-moves per day" but if your opponent moves every other day but within the time controls and you don't like it, you won't get much sympathy from the readers of these forums.
If you don't like it, pay your money to play elsewhere.

For some mysterious reason people here like to play really slow chess.
