Tonight in England, the clocks are going back (some rubbish about whingers wanting more light in the day, if I had my way there would be no sun at all!). It is probably my favourite time of year when the clocks go back and I get an extra hour asleep but it is really gay when they go forward in the spring - that is the worst of all, it effectively gives me two hours less sleep cause after the clocks go back I always stay up an hour later to compensate.

Does any other county have this strange phenomenon or is it just England?

Does it make you mad when they go forward? I would be willing to give up the pleasure of clocks going back if it would give me the extra hours sleep I miss when they go forward.

you can move to Hawaii, Arizona, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and Saskatchewan where it is not practiced.

sounds good I like the sort of places that dont let 'the man' try and interfere with their sleep, the only problem I hear about these islands is they are prone to natrual disasters.

Thanks for the reminder T.

I always blow this...once I arrived at a mates house at 4am for a 6am fishing trip. Instead of putting the clocks back I'd put them forward....woke the whole houshold by phoning him when he didn't answer the customary gentle tap on the kitchen door....it didn't go down well...

As it is, and 30+ years later, I'll doubtless have a hard time explaining to my three year old why "yes, it's light, but not yet time to get up....PLEASE go back to sleep" 😴

Most European countries do this rubbish and switch at the same time as the UK. I'm glad we are going back now. I wouldn't mind going several hours back.

Do the clocks change in Scandinavia also? If so why? Up there an hour here and there would not make a difference would it? Seems mad to me but I don't live there so I would not know.

I do like the dark months, lots of time to stay at home and be inspired.

its all for those bloody scots, just because they live too far north.
since they want independance, why not let them have their own time zone and leave ours alone?😠

That doesn't make sense. Being further north makes summer time less meaningful, as the days are very long anyway.
