I agree completely. I don't think they are hopeless cases, unless you make them so. By the way, is it even legal to toss them out of school? Is school not compulsory in the US?

I never said they were hopeless cases - and these kids have the option of going to other schools around the area for that year...I think.

Of course it's legal. They're lucky they got off with a suspension instead of an expulsion, they broke a major law.

I was talking about the school, not you. It sounds like they treat them like hopeless cases. Instead of working on the problem, they just get rid of the kids. If they are sent to a different school instead, it may not be illegal, but how does it help?

What do you suppose the school did instead? If they aren't strict about this what message does that send to other students?

The person caught was weird as hell too - not "cool and rebellious" but rather "what the hell is wrong with that person?" It was a girl btw.
desperate people do desperate things. pushing them off the cliff isn't going to cut their downward spiral... who knows what kind of hell that girl has been going through. sexual abuse, violence, health problems... people don't get desperate just for fun.

well, except emos.

how about: "if you have problems with drugs, addiction or anything else, we will be there for you, and help you get through school without messing up your entire future."

they weren't desperate then, I assume? some people can do even hard drugs, some can't. just like with alcohol. -but I was thinking more what he said about the girl being 'weird'. which is pretty often a sign of other (heavy) troubles...

Meth is more fun than coke.

For those curious about the process in which cocaine is extracted from the coca plant...

They're both fun, but in different ways.

Combining them could be quite entertaining.
