there is an ideal called truth, a dream - that "god" may be able to see.

but more importantly there are many different views of each situation.

each of these views believes their own direct evidence ...

their are many relative truths.

often these views are just that: views.

truth is rarely absolute.
Truth is always absolute....these "views" you talk about may only be opinions.

i would like to know why you think your opinion is more valid than mine ... what do you know that i do not?

I accept the statement: Truth is that which is real.

You do not, so it is for you to convince me that: That which is real is unreal.

There is something that is real, our knowledge of it may be in question but the thing is real/true.

again you tell me your opinion.

i am sure your opinion seems real to you.

i do not understand why your opoinion seems so real to you.

you put words in my mouth which are not my words when you say: "That which is real is unreal."

i believe what i have reason to believe ... and i understand that you believe what you have reason to believe.

i do not understand why you believe that our beliefs should always be exactly the same.

let me ask a question: what is the most relaxing colour?
i have an opinion ... do you?

do our opinions have to be the same?

you fight a tough battle ...

slapstick and art support multiple world views.

even science ... based on testable evidence of the world ... at its most exact, comes to quatum wave packets collapsing depending on the view of the observer.

the evidence for a solid and absolutely true world seems slim.

people wil always be bound to believe that their own view is more important than that of others ... this is natural ... and practical ... but not necessarily true.

It is the truth (an absolute fact) that I have an opinion, which may or may not be correct.

In your "colour" example you ask for an opinion anyway so no argument there.

...but if given certain criteria (most relaxing for whom would be a good start, your question does not state this) it would be possible to ascertain the most relaxing colour, absolutely.

So our opinions need not be the same, but what is true for you is true for me and everyone else.

Maybe this debate would be better held in the debates forum so this thread could be kept free for Mokko's problem.

Just my opinion (ha!).

Give us some definite criteria dottewell and we'll be able to know absolutely if this should be on the debates board.

Don't be silly. I actually agree with you, insofar as I think the debate can be meaningfully had. But that is not what this thread is about.

Someone has come here for help, not a philosophical debate.

The worst part is I have no choice but to listen to these evil words of twisted dementia ...[text shortened]... prevail or do liars actually get anywhere in life with their complete and total BS all the time?
How do you know if someone speaks the truth?

Or of he's lying?

That's a very black/white and naieve way of looking at things Wajoma.

Not always does one know what the truth is, not always is there only one truth and not always is there any truth at all.

Most truths are only true from a certain view point.
