Are you sure? I thought blue smarties were a relatively recent addition, probably not brought in until after the Soviet Union started to collapse.

The soviet union collapsed in 1989. Blue were introduced in '88, but not allowed into Russia at that time.....

Well, most players at or above IM level don't like to play games where they make a move once a day. I think they are afraid some 1300 player using Fritz might beat them. 🙁
