I find the "eating" sound "om nom nom" extremely endearing for some reason. I saw it recently on a Zero Punctuation game review and went "awww".

I'm not sure why.

In the games I started, I never got a confirmation that they would start on X. The first turnfile and e-mails just showed up at the usual time i.e. Tuesday night (US). I'd expect the same thing in this game, so have your computers on at the appointed time.

I'm hoping for Drows; the regular infantry has 3 MPs like Elves, but without the fruity Elf look (Unicorn Riders?? GAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!). And, of course, a nice harbor; you all know I love a navy (though I won my last DL starting with landlocked Goblins).
