It's best to keep it for when you may need it - for testing and such. Also some sites you have no choice and have to use IE. eg. There's a horse racing site I go on that only works with IE. And ASDA [UK Walmarts] was the same though they've fixed it now.
You can just set Firefox as the default.

Or you can use IE View which I also use.

However, neither would work if you removed IE.

Or you can get the IE Tab add on and open those pages in FF anyway...

Nice. I have IE View, but that opens IE in a new window. Still easier than copying and pasting the address into IE, but a tab sounds more practical. I'll try it.
