OK first of all let me say RahimK you must have the patience of jobe. I would have took a sledgehammer to it long ago. I will say this. ME was the biggest Microsoft rip off ever. Do yourself a favour and do what someone else suggested and use Win 98.

OK that said. If I want help from a mechanic for my car I wouldn't go to a butcher shop and ask him to work on the car for me. The same with buying meat. I wouldn't trust a mechanic to find me the best cuts. I'm not having a go at you guys here for trying to help, but, why on earth would somebody go to a chess site for computer help is beyond me.

Just for future reference, try here http://www.thatcomputerguy.us/ if you have computer problems where you can get some professional help and at no cost to the person needing the help. These guys are all fine guys who volunteer their valuable time to help people like you and me in times of need. Yes, I've needed their help on numerous occasions and they solved my problems everytime.

And just for your information, I am in no way affiliated with this site. I'm just a guy trying to point you to a place to get computer help in the future. Because, some of the responces I've seen on here had no business trying to help because some of you were giving misinformation.

Good luck,

Manc...

The problem I'm faced with now is to run Office '97 setup to restore registry items. BUT I cannot find the original OEM disk. Can someone help me here? It would be easier to delete and install Open Office but the wife and kids use it.

3 days and 25 hours later I got Me finally on. But the only problem i see is the animation i mentioned. I don't thinK i have a video card. My computer at home is open right now and I only see 2 cards, network and sound card I belive. It might be on the motherboard.

How would I check what kind it is, so I can get the drivers?

I Installed this chipset driver adn it came with a graphic driver. Maybe I can upgrade that driver or flash is my problem? Isn't there some flash thing you can download? Like adobe flash player or something?

Try this for the information....[again]

Or go to your motherboard manufacturers for the drivers.

Now that you know what he goes through on a daily basis, you should bring a big spliff for him tomorrow. OR if you you don't know what a spliff is, then a cold 6 pack.

It is imposdible for you not to have a video card, it means that it is integrated in the motherboard if you can't see it, If you folowed my advice on how to check if you have the rigth drivers, then you should know easily if you have them or not.

If you have them, then I told you to check if you have the Flash Player, because you say the problem is with animations on sites, and that is what this program does.

If you dont have them, it is easy to find them in the web, and there are two ways:

1- Find the brand and model number of your motherboard, do a google searchj like this:

"Brand" "model" drivers download

or something like it. then follow the intructions on how to install in the "readme" file after download.

2- And more dificult but some times the only way, locate the graphics control chip on the mother board. it is mostly a black little square near the processor(the one with the fan), or near to the place you conect your monitor. then read the inscription, as an example mine says: INTEL 845, then do a google search for this number to find out what it is, because you could have chosen the sound controller instead, after you are sure that you have the number for the graphics controller, then search for its divers and follow instrictions on readme file after downloading.

I hope this helps, If it doesn't call me and I will be on my way, I think I will be in Canada in two yearsπŸ˜²πŸ˜€

Edit: and about the flash player, it instals itself when you try to use some smiley from MSN messenger, I don't know about ME but XP works this way.

Okay I think the problem is my monitor drivers.

I went to Dell and downloaded the E771p driver. Then I tried to update it but it says that the best driver is in use already and it gives me:

C:\WINDOWS\INF\MONITOR.INF

So I can't use the e771p driver. How do I fix this problem and is it a problem?

When i'm typing I see the screen flickering sometimes and animations don't show up well and keep flashing etc...

Can I put the monitor.inf files somewhere else and force it to use the dell driver file?

Then there is a way to force install of a driver:

I am not sure the steps exactly in ME but this is the basis, there is a point installing the driver that he ask if you want automatic insltation or select the file, you want to do it manualy, then it asks where to look for the file, you want to seach for the driver yourself, and you will search folder where there is a .inf file.

sometimes you have to seleck "HAVE DISK", as I told you I don't know the steps exactly in ME, but try to do this and if having some trouble post the proces here and I will try to figure out what hapens.
