You omitted a second ",," which should have followed the word "point."
In your use of the quotation marks again, the "." should have been within the last," for the sentence to obtain complete clarity.

Continuing to stir the pot to try to get more rigid, draconian moderation in place a month after the event is the icing on the cake.
