Who are you to decide what is right for my 10 year old?

Seriously, if we can't post anything anymore which we think some parent of some child might consider wrong for his/her child, we can close the forums. If I had a child, I probably wouldn't want it to hear adults call each other idiots (sorry for using the word, but it seems that it's still allowed, even though I find it a lot more offensive than many of the banned words), and I wouldn't really want it to read a lot of the fundamentalist stuff in the spiritual forum, just to give two examples. But rather than banning all things I might not want my child to read, I'd not let the child read the site up to a certain age or maturity level, or I would read it together with the child and talk about it.

Like it or not, but your 10 year old will hear words that are far beyond your approval if you are at the least bit sensitive to such things. Preventing them in a forum won't change the world at large. The best thing is to do what Nordlys suggest. Talk about the words with your 10 year old instead of trying to shield him/her.
Who's actually rearing Phlab's imaginary 10 year old?

You were given an explanation, and still don't get it. Since this topic keeps coming up with you, I will post what I told you and see if the other RHP users can understand it....
First off, you were one of many users removed from the forums for cussing. You didn't understand why, you claim.
Next, when you came back you started posting about the sam ...[text shortened]... told to you, and how clearly it has been stated over and over and over and over again.

While you say everything is quite clear about what language is and is not allowed ; while you take the moral high ground as a moderator ; while you complain about people trying to be cheeky and cute to push the limits and test robo-mod and the moderator's patience - your avatar says "fighting cock" . (Would I be modded for starting a thread about fighting cocks ? Quite possibly .)And darvlay , your defender a few pages back , has an avatar that uses language you clearly state is subject to unquestioning moderation . Would I be modded if I used the language found in his avatar in a post ? Yep .
I think both are quite funny . But bans and high and mighty moral finger wagging about the same content in other posts by other posters?-Not so much .
Can you see how people might get a sense of unfairness about what is modded and who's moderating ? Can you see how someone might get the idea there is a double standard operating ? Or at least can you see how someone might get a sense that site standards you characterize as being no-brainers are actually arbitrary and inconsistant ?
You want it both ways . We just want it one way or the other , and to know which one it is .
Originally posted by stockenI'll do that if I chose, never said I wouldn't... but it is not a 'teacher's' place to direct my child to web site with cussing on it.

The alternative is closing the forum, and that has happened at other sites. I don't want it going down that road, so the mods are going to keep doing what we do and Russ is going to keep saying 'Good choice, I stand by your decisions'.

You think it's ok to ban someone for linking to another site with swearwords in it (even though the linking was obviously made to produce a valid argument). Then, you have the nerve to claim that using an image in this very site with a dirty word (albeit funny) is quite alright.
Whooooo... You really shouldn't be a moderator, pal.

OK , whatever .
I don't think anyone complained . I'm not complaining about anyone's avatar , or anyone's post for that matter . I'm pointing out your double standards .
Btw - why do you think Russ didn't ask you or darv to change your avatars ? Hmmm.... , could it be that he relies on other people to do that job ? I wonder who he has appointed to remove such material ? Hmmmm.....I wonder why they didn't bring those to his attention .
Edit : May I suggest a replacement avatar ? Try to find an image of a fox guarding a henhouse .
