Originally posted by huckleberryhound"recently the law against age of consent fell apart in the Republic of ireland. " - There was never a law against the age of consent in Ireland.
no , you got me. I live in Eire, all i said was true, or dont you read the newspaper?
"It was deemed unconstitutional when a young guy challenged the law under the argument that "he thought the girl was 17". "
- A) The guy was 41; NOT young. B) The law was not deemed unconstitutional because the guy "thought the girl was 17", but because he was not able to enter honest mistake as a defence.
"it became a major issue when th elaw as deemed unconstitutional, because paedophiles in jails all over Ireland, challenegd their sentence."
- The law was not deemed unconstitutional because
"paedophiles in jails all over Ireland, challenged their sentence."
"the age of consent is 17 in Ireland, UNLESS THE DAIL CHANGED IT THIS WEEK"
- Upto and including the start of this week, the age of consent (for heterosexual sex) of boys is 15 and the age of consent (for heterosexual sex) of girls is 17.
"Get your facts straight. "
- My facts were already quite straight, thank you.
"This is the last time i will correct your stupid mistakes"
- Read the thread after this post to see the inaccuracy in your statement. Also, the only mistake I made in this thread was the very obvious typo (which contradicted the point I made a line earlier.)
"fool"
- The refutation of this is self explanatory. 😉
"the age of consent was 17."
- Explained above.

as for the law against the age of consent . . .stop point scoreing.
the law concearning "reasonable doubt ( i'm not sure of the wording)" made the present law of statutory rape unconstitutional.
stop being a nard.
