284. The King hurried in an unkingly manner to and fro across the black and white varigated marble ballroom floor. A Bishop of the Black Church blocked the long white diagonal but The King managed to avoid him fearing he would betray his lustful intent if he spoke to the Bishop. He flitted in zugzwang between the guest saying his goodbyes. He was a man hungry for chocolate and the irresitable temptress in the corner chamber. A storm was brewing, lightnening flashed and thunder rumbled. The orchesstra was playing the love duet from Verdi's famous opera, "A Masked Ball". . The music continue as the guest retreated. Out of the rain, The Tinman had just arrived only to be dimissed by The King. Save for the orchesstra, All the King's horses, and all the King's men were dismissed. The board was emptying. The Tin Clad Knight tried to pause the clock and protest directly to the King, but apparently to no avail. The lightening tripped a circuit breaker and the lights went out. All was dark for a moment until the reset circuits were triggered and the lights came back on.

The king made his way across the chequered ballroom and back to the chamber where the beautiful and lovely lady await.

285. as the king in a most unkingly hurry was quite making a B line directly to the consort of dark delights, the tin knight and bishop were conferring on the opposite corner of the ballroom with the black and white italian marble tiles. "silence, Sir, do not even dare to utter the thought, the walls have ears in this palace. let us depart to yonder garden." pointing out beyond to the garden maze.

286. The tin knight and the Bishop retreated to the neatly trimmed hedgerows of the garden maze, into the cold dark misting rain of the night. The sand colored cobble of pebbles that carpeted the garden paths lightly crunched beneath the feet of there hurried pace.

The king entered her chamber and excitedly went to the bedside gently proclaiming in the softest of whispers, "I have returned my lady".

288. At long last The Lucena position had begun. It was just her and the king alone in the mighty Castle at Kingsmill. The passion and the tension rushed through them as a palpable wave. He could feel her lips tremble as well his own as they gently touched. Her softness overwhelmed him. They did not rush the tempo of these moments. He had not even bothered to remove the purples and gold of his royal masquerade costume. The excitement of her gaze as he looked deep into the reflecting pools of her eyes was serene. In her, he could see the reflected image of himself and his own dark eyes behind the Venetian Mask he still wore. "Oh my Sweetest" he whispered between sharings of breath as he pressed against her yearning and she contemplated the inevitability of her promotion.

289. Would he? Would he really promote her? Give her that much power? Would he advance her to royal status? Could he trust her so? Alas, YES, by Gods above! He would! She would be his Queen! the smooth dark 86% reflecting pool Ghirardelli melted in their mouths. She shall be coronated forthwith! Let no man utter against MiLady lest they lose their heads! The royal betrothal shall be announced in the morning. Another square, your majesty? she purred and cooed and let him know that her treasures were his to have and to hold and enjoy as he would to his pleasure.

290. Would she? Would she become his Queen? What would she do with such Power? Would she trust him? Or in deception would he become the Coquette's Victim...? His weakness for chocolate overtook him...He would sort it out in the morning, clear his mind of past thoughts and previous Queens, return to the sweet midnight reverie, and indulge in the timeless pleasure of the moment. They sank deeper into the luxuriously deep and velvety warm comfort of the chamber bed. The king had never felt like this. Time stood still and he repeatedly enjoyed the pleasures of her treasures.

But meanwhile in the dark maze of the Palace Garden, The Black Bishop of Estonia-Order of the Long Diagonal and the tin knight waited... lost in the maze.

Epilogue

Checkmate

291. No amount of influence, no entreaties, no interferences would do. She was made queen. Crowned. That simple, metaphorically, politically. The pomp and pageantry were astounding. The masses cheered. Royalty came from across the empire, around the world. She sat next to him and became "His." He, of course, became hers. Checkmate. Game over. Fritz had won. Doyle smiled as he stared at the screen and watched his rating bump 20 points.

3. Fritz turned to Doyle and said,: Tell you what Doyle, offer her nine ninety five and not a penny more and see what she says". Doyle was awstruck, "how in the name of all that's holy, can you expect her to agree to such a low figure? he said. " It's only a starting point you numbskull, have you not learned anything from me regaurding the nuances of negotiating? Just do as I say and make the offer." Doyle did as he was told although he still didn't think that Sheila would respond.

4. The Smith Morra Gambit! Sheila HATED playing against that monster. It's one of those almost irresistable gambits. You just keeping wanting to take them . .pawn after pawn, until the enemy is fully developed and you sit two pawns up and a game down. what to do? she couldn't help herself, she took the pawn. it was just too good not to take.
