37. His underling reported on the goingson back in the Aderondacks. Don Donaldo was furious. "What does he think he's doing that buffoon. I knew it was a mistake to allow him into our fold but none of the others would listen to me. Now we must approach this takeover from a different angle". He told his man to go and see if it was possible to have the meeting posponed for another day. When Lolita reentered from the bathroom, her lips as red as the sunset happening outside, he asked her if she was "up" for another rendezvous with Stu. She begged him to not make her go back to him but in her heart of hearts she knew she was wasting her breath. She would dutifully do his command he was afterall "The Don" and well he was kind of.......magnetic. He called for the limo and off she went a small tear appearing in her right eye.

38. Don Donaldo was BEYOND furious! He threw a bottle of Stuart's gift red Brunello di Montalcino against the Italian marbled library frontispiece. "I am not a violent man." he shouted, but He was NOT going to send his wife back out into the night. He was NOT going to postpone the meeting. And ninety nine five was NOT any longer a starting point.

39. "Mr. Pidity... I am a generous man, No." Donaldo said calmly into the phone, "I treated you nice, No." His Sicilian accent becoming more pronounced. "I temporarily offered you the best that I have, yet you presume to insult my hospitatilty and honour". As he tried to control his rage he became more and more agitated. He screamed into the phone words half Italian half English but the meaning was crystal clear, "I have willingly shared with you my beautiful WIFE... and her finest chocolates... Are you so presumptious and so greedy? Do you think that I am some kind of pimp? Did you expect that I would send her immediately back out into the night like a whore because you didn't get enough chocolate?"... "Now you call me from line 30 and interrupt MY evening... You had better start talking Mr. Pidity, and I better like what you say."

40. The Don could not tolerate presumptions made upon his gratitude. His wife was no whore. He was no pimp. La Bella Donna was his obedient seductive lover. She would do what ever he asked when ever he asked, just as he asked... as would any of his "soldiers" on the "Commission", and he would ask only that which was necessary, especially of her because he prized her so.

41. If their marriage was seemingly unorthodox, it was, but it was ordained by the two strongest "Families" and their Bishops... his Bishop and her Bishop... they advised Don and Donna, protected their interests, stood beside them in light and dark.

42. Don totally trusted Donna and she totally trusted him. He moved her as he wanted, as he needed, as she needed... sometimes gently and sometimes with authority, and she obediently adored being moved. It was in that freedom of movement, the understanding between the moved and the mover, that they both derived their supreme ecstacy and total power.

43. Doyle was at a loss. There seemed to be no move that would save the deal. Every intrigue, every play, every move, every offer of exchange was thwarted and countered with authority. Now, their resources were either drained, or trapped, or committed, or over committed, or about to be captured by those DA*Ned F*#k@ng Sicilian Gombas! In total frustration he called Fritz for advice. Fritz just sighed with disappointment and said, "Doyle, it's a sharp line. That's all it is. Make them a counter offer. Stu can handle it. Turn him loose on them."

44. Fr. Dominic LaPagliazzi, Arch Bishop, took a long view of what was going on, surveying the scene across the atlantic. There was only one satisfactory outcome from this exchange, so far as the Bishop was concerned, and that was for the Church to get it's proper piece of the action. Thus, he let his influence be known, no matter how veiled the threat, his influence would be "at the table."

45. And so it went, back and forth, reciprocal gestures, small gifts, and not such small gifts, all "lubricating" the social wheels of business in the interest of closing the deal. Thus, it came to pass, that the stunningly beautiful Bella Donna would happen to be riding in the limo WITH Stu Pidity to the meeting with the Commission. Stu knew that his life wasn't worth a nickle to this pack of thugs, but the Don's lovely wife, well, she would be his shield, for safe entry, anyway. He did, however, have a very good protection plan - a most excellent compelling offer to place on the table - an offer that would be difficult to counter as the cost of refusal would ignite open war between the families.

46. Stu sat at the elegant carved oak table across from the Don. Bella Donna respectfully left the room to go to the spa and soak in the mineral spring. The Don opened the negotiation, "You have made some very nice gestures. We placed an offer on the table and you have chosen to ignore it. What new information do you bring to us today?"

47. With all due respect, Don, our interests conflict with regard to the Swiss System. I am speaking of Ghirardelli 88% Dark Chocolates and the international finance system. The Bishop's ears perked up at the mention of introducing the Swiss System into the negotiation, as the Swiss Guard protects the Holy See. Surely, this interloper would not be suggesting a move against His Holiness?

48. The Don listened respectfully and attentively. His temper had since been soothed by his lovely wife and the "eight casks" of Brunello di Montalcino that Stuart had sent to the Commission. The social wheels of business were turning again. Don Donaldo had even saw to it that Mr. Pidity was once again graced by the company of the ravishingly beautiful Bella Donna. Alone she accompanied him winding through the mountains in the limo ride to the Commission House in Corleone. Whether out of fear or discipline it was unknown, but Stu didn't dare touch her this time in spite of the alluring temptation she presented. Don smiled at the thought of the discomfort this must have caused Stuart. Don Donaldo liked the power his Queen projected.

49. The Commission bosses, four sitting to the Don's left and four to his right, were visibly disturb at the the mention of the Swiss System. What Stuart Pidity was proposing was far too big for an operation such as the Commission. When it came right down to it, even they realized that they were just pawns compared to the international global game. They rarily ventured far from the playground of Sicily, or Southern Italy, or at most the Mediteranean. Sure they had operations in the Americas, Australia, and a few places elsewhere in the world, but that was penny-anti and Hollywood compared to what Stuart was proposing. Besides, they prefered local knockout style business... Single elimination... Sudden death... La Cosa Nostra. That was how the Familes did business, Italian style not Swiss, that is what they understood.
