You have way too much spare time. Your favorite pastime is probably getting 100 new computers, then shooting 99 of them with a Romanian AK-47 for absolutely no reason, then sitting down to play chess on the last one.

I think I go with an Uzi, still a good , reliable weapon. Does Israel still use it as their main weapon? Or have they got something newer? I think it work against a gangbanger on a bike ... works against Palestinian terrorists

These cost about 350 and are a good choice. (Ignore the inflated MSRP they list)

Concealed Carry permits are now much easier to get in California. Used to be impossible, now all you need is a clean record and firearm safety class. My son-in-law just got his, said it was just a matter of applying.

9mm Uzi too low power. Would most likely bounce off LA gangbanger's head.

Plus they're kind of hard to carry concealed, unless you wear a raincoat everywhere.

Guess they be more appropriate for Seattle, Washington. Heard it rains alot there... a raincoat would not be out of place.

If you want some input from a knowladgeable crowd, Thousand, try going to :

gunandgame.com

Ask them what would be a good first time gun for a beginner/someone unfamilar with handguns. They'll probably tell you the same thing I did, a 4" barrel revolver in .357, but it never hurts to get a variety of opinions, and it's a friendly site. Trolling/rudeness is punished quickly. I post there under the name Taurus Fan.

I would recommend something like this for you, unless you just have to have a 9mm.

Again, ignore the MSRP, they go for about 350. A comparable Smith or Colt would be twice that. Taurus makes a good gun.

What should I look for in a weapon? I'd like to buy it in person without having to wait for it to come in the mail.
You'll shoot your eye out Ralphie.

I would have to agree with the revolver idea.
They are less complicated.

I love mine. I run around the house with it every day and admire how cool it looks when I pretend to shoot bad guys....and let's face it, you'll be doing it too. It's a guy thing.

It depends on what kind of shooting you want to do. Personally I think a shotgun or a handgun is great for home defense.
If you are an inexperienced gun handler, get help of some sort.

I like my Desert Eagle, it would stop a charging elephant. πŸ˜€
