I just started reading them last week. I told my kids (they begged me to read them myself), that I wouldn't read them until they were all written, and the series was completed. I've started 2 other series, and have waited 18 months for the ensuing volumes. I'ts maddening.
I have so far completed the first two, and found them enjoyable light reading. I wouldn't say they're great, but they're good.

After spending a few minutes here I can easily say that all are lacking of any wit or intelligence whatsoever. You all believe yourselves to be better than everyone else, and I can tell you right now, that that is not the case in the slightest, you pseudo-intellectuals. I am much better than all of you. Clearly I am because I am neither pretentious, long-winded, asinine, discourteous, nor are my tastes quite as bland as yours. No, I am quite concise, and I would never stretch beyond that of my means or what I am designated to.
I'd have to say that this forum is full of anonymous lurkers, attackers, and trolls, who have nothing better to do than throw their elitist opinions around in an attempt at misguided show-boating with people they'd never ever meet.
None of you build any persona or stand by anything remotely attached that I can feel some sort of personal connection to. You lack any sort of direction and I can't have that. Your analogies are far too complicated, linear, and they're rather contradictory. Why, there's never even any variety here!

Can you believe J.K. Rowling's talent?
The characters, the story, the intricacy, the involvement, the ending...I'm sad that it's over...just finished HP7.
Thoughts?
Dragons and wizards and evil plans of ultimate doom and intrigue are familiar as apple pie. Every 10 years there is a resurgence of certain genres as the new crop of kids grow up that haven't yet been exposed to what's come before them in the past.
I will grant you that the retelling of this story is well done but its success speaks more to society's lack of historical reference than it does to anything specific to the author.

And why have sex more than once when all you need is historical reference?

What is also always the same, is that people always try to criticise real talent in the hope of seeming superior.
The Harry Potter series is a work of genius. It is different from lord of the Rings but comparable in its brilliance.
The final book is the best and its seemlessness proves what tremendous vision and imagination Rowling has.

All Harry Potter is plagiarised Roald Dahl & Jill Murphy (The Worst Witch Series of books) with a variation of the Eton Wall game thrown in for a bit of sport...If I ever have kids they're gonna read Roald Dahl.
Thats my two pence, but its all down to personal opinion really...

Roald Dahl is probably more of an original thinker with amazing creative ability. But JK is a master story teller of an epic tale.
Pliagiarised is far too strong a term, it denies JK's talent for humour and twists.
