Something so completely scientifically definable vs the logic and emotion we feel when incurred by them, it makes no sense!
The argument I'm having at the moment is with a friend who's recently had their heart broken... He's in physical pain (yes we've all been there) and while swearing women off in one breath is vowing to continue seeking out that one person who he believes will love him!
Its like being shot in the arse then asking for more. Clearly I just don't get it.

Simple...your body released chemicals that you hadn't experienced before and it felt great, amazing...you'd never felt like that before.
Then something happens, you break up, and you find a new girl, but it doesn't "feel" the same, or quite as good. That's because your experiencing it for the 2nd time. And the 2nd time you do something is never as cool as when you did it the first time. You are desensitized to the feeling of love so it doesn't give you as much of a "high" as it did before. And the more you date, the worse it gets. You'll never get back to the feeling you had with your first love.
It's much the same as junkies...they try some drug, love the feeling, and keep trying to come back for more but the effect is never as strong as the first time and it doesn't last as long.
It's all chemical.
