If you love someone, you love them; not in spite of their faults, but because of them. It's part of the unique element. I loved and married my first love. It didn't work out. I still am in love with her. It can never work. The pain can never go away. Oue two children are hers, not mine. Our lives are both ruined. She never remarried. I did, a few time ...[text shortened]... both still in love with each other, and yet we both know it is hopeless. Explain that for me.
Originally posted by Evil Pawn 666I think when you MARRY your first love and then have children with them you remain stuck in time, almost. I know this from experience. It is the love you compare other loves to. For some reason, first love reaches a point where it stops growing. Expectations are too high and resentment overwhelms. I believe it has something to do with maturing and becoming a person no longer compatible with that first love, even though you want things to stay the same, fiercely. The first love is a stubborn love, too. It's only with experience having other loves with different people do you see where you go wrong, where you might compromise and what you want in a partner. It's my view that you should not marry your first love. It seems doomed. And the younger you are, the more certain that eventually, things will go sour. But you can't help but love them always because you see all the things in that love that shaped you and your view of love and its hard to let go. The dream dies and it sucks.

As for love: I think real adult love can be had with several people throughout a lifetime and may be even healthier that way. It's possible there is one true love I think, but I also think that its likely you can't be with them so that sucks too. I'd rather have the pain of a few loves ending than living in FEAR in one relationship of being alone or never having love again or having that person hate me.
And yeah, the body can be a slave to love but its not just a bunch chemical reactions. However, the body part of love sure is LOVELY. The soul, I believe, is really what the heart is and when the soul finds another bright soul that it loves and wants, not much can disprove it.
Love is a good thang.

If I understood your question well, you asked me if I had the same type of love for any particular person, right ???
So I asked if it was for the same person, you said "no"
So I asked if it was for different people, you said Yes and no"
at this point, my head went into a spinning frenzy, rocked off my shoulders and exploded!!!

Love is a cold hard thing.
It leaves you vulnerable to having your heart slashed in half.
I try and forget every day of my past love.
She died in a car accident.
I cried for three days straight.
Then I realized that she did not leave enough of a legacy. So I decided I would pave the way for aerospace engineers everywhere. I would attempt to become the standard of aerospace engineers, NASA's new hope.

I've just finished a book called "How The Mind Works" by Steven Pinker.
This doesn't address the actual feeling of love, which is much harder to define, but tries to explain all the seemingly paradoxical reactions one has when falling in love and after being bucked.
Try thinking about this analogy in terms of other emotions too, like anger, jealousy, grief...it's a surprisingly coherent idea!
Your explanation does strike a chord.
