[b]Trick, please! Can't find any food? Let me tell you something straight up. The Queen of England is coming to my neighborhood this weekend for the Kentucky Derby and there ain't no doubt in my mind that her dignified ass will take home a doggie bag. It's no accident that there is little obesity in England.
Kirksey, you are indeed extremely lucky to have the Queen of England visiting chez-toi this weekend and she will, no doubt, relish the excellent Kentucky spread. But she is a purist as far as the english language is concerned and if you offer her a doggy bag she will assume that you are referring to the royal corgis, who will probably accompany her.... so she may well accept the offer since like most english people she loves her animals. But you are wrong about the obesity, though I like your juxtaposition of little alongside obesity.

Miss Shell should have visited France if she wanted tastebud stimulation during her grand tour, its even better than Italy for food.

Here is what I am kind of relishin this weekend: babyback barbeque ribs with a Maker's Mark borbon barbecue sauce, potato salad wit lots of dill, baked beans with brown sugar and bacon, jalapeno corn bread, lots of beef, bean and cheese dip for my chips, corn on the cob, maybe some wings from Hooters, and a mint julip.

The mouth waters and the brain drools with a cerebrospinal fluid tsunami swirling in my head at the thought of this feast. For me, Kirksey, you have really and truly put the tuck into Kentucky. But will our noble Queen be able to cope with this = after all in England it is politically and regally correct to go nouvelle cuisine ..... our glorious monarch is yet still fettered by the memories that you americans have of our gluttinous King Henry VIII with his oversized mouthfuls of whole chicken (no babybacks in those days). I'll tell her that the doggy bags will indeed be necessary and hope she brings some back for me. But will the Ladies=in=waiting be able to nip out from the feast un-noticed to purchase the necessary stomach sedatives for Her Majesty - will the drug stores in Kentucky be open on Sunday - she bids me ask your advice.

I think she'll be fine. I know she will find some strawberries and cream, some mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat, and other dainty kinds of stuff. I'm sure that the staff of Churchill Downs has a ready supply of stomach medicines like Maalox, Imodium and the like. Everyone over here is on Prilosec or Nexium.

One bit of news to pass on to you. The west end of Louisville has a tradition known as "cruising." It is where we people of color like to shut down the roads with these block parties. The women ride around on the hoods and take off their tops and stuff. It's kind of our form of commoner entertainment. A few years ago it was banned and now a judge has backed up this ban so we can't party like the white folks. To add insult to injury, we have been told that when the Queen comes, they will shut down the interstate system much like they would do if Bush were coming. As you can imagine, the natives is restless and mad that this outsider gets to cruise at her own merryment while we is shut out of our own town. There is some talk that all the brothaz and sistaz may just decide to drive on the wrong side of the damn road to welcome her. I think that is only fittin.

I am sorry about the interstate closure due to the queen, I am sure she does not realise inconvenience it has caused you. If I can get a message to her in time she will certainly cancel this arrangement and invite you personally to join the royal party for the food, which sounds fantastic.

Please don't let your brothers and sisters of Brothers with Attitude clash with the our beloved monarch. For one reason, the Vegetable Clan has not had a chance to play you yet and the other reason is that what appears to be a snub may have been organised for your benefit........ word in the palaces is that one of the corgis has gone down with bird flu, and I'd hate you to catch that.
