If my UB&O wasn't all on vinyl then I'd find a way of allowing you to hear more 😉
I was sure I hadn't used those covers on a previous mix tape... oh well - should've checked back properly.
Edit - Palynka - are you able to tell me what the song Maga is about? I think Go Lem are from your part of the world...
Palynka Feedback:
01 - The Hives - Abra Cadaver
--No, no, no. This song doesn't belong. The rest of the mix is pretty cohesive. This doesn't really fit in. Not a fan.
02 - Prefuse 73 - The End of Biters
--Note to rhb: What's wrong with Prefuse 73?. Good track. Check out Verbal Feat. Mc Decimal R.--similar, but better IMO.
03 - Cujo - Popsicle
--Tobin is always nice. I like this track a lot.
04 - Suba - Sereia
--Nice, mellow...I keep changing my mind on this one. It's growing on me. Reminded me a little of Aguas de Março, which I REALLY like.
05 - Mão Morta - Tu Disseste
--Excellent! Loving this one.
06 - Sofa Surfers - Elusive Scripts
--Great follow up to #5. Big fan of Sofa Surfers.
07 - Soul Position - Inhale.mp3
--Continuing the dark theme from track 5-9 (originally noted by rhb). These 4 tunes are the strongest portion of the mix IMO, although of the 4, this is probably my least fav. Still, a solid choice.
08 - Zero dB - Know What I'm Sayin'
--'nuf said
09 - Amon Tobin - The Lighthouse
--Same here. I agree with what you said earlier in the thread. As a big fan of Tobin, I really like this album. It's a shame it carries the stigma of being a video game soundtrack.
10 - Four Tet - Everything Is Alright
--Liked it. Didn't love it, but it works.
11 - DJ Krush and Toshinori Kondo - Ha-Doh
--The bass really does it for me in this track. Gives it a slight creepiness that makes it sound like something out of a David Lynch film (picturing a dwarf dancing in front of a red velvet curtain). It works for the mix and definitely suits my taste.
12 - RJD2 - Good Times Roll Pt.2
I found the first half of this track a little boring. It picks up nicely later though. Good tune.
13 - Lemon Jelly - '64 aka Go
--Not sure how I feel about this one. I like Lemon Jelly, but undecided on this track.

Excellent work here (particularly the middle tracks). I definitely plan on picking up more of this stuff.
Any chance of you guys uploading some of your mixes to a gspace account? I'm stuck with a ISP that blocks P2P (bittorrent/soulseek) and a workspace thats blocked that and every other half decent website..
Now I could go out and buy all the CD's with the songs you guys have posted but thats plain silly.. Well, maybe not but I want to at least have a listen to them first and let you know what i think of em..
As i said b4, i can post all the songs i put in my playlist up if needed..
Looking forward to hearing these mixes now, there's quite a few artistes that i've never heard of, always good...
I don't have much experiences with mixes, and don't know if there's anything I should try to achieve other than flow, which I probably won't do a very good job. Say what you must, and please give me pointers/advice for other music (even though there's plenty in this thread already). Here goes.
Artist - Song
1. Animal Collective - #1
2. Guster - Come Downstairs and Say Hello
3. Neil Young - Heart of Gold
4. Foo Fighters - See You
5. Butthole Surfers - Pepper
6. Beck - Where it's At
7. Guster - One Man Wrecking Machine
8. Meat Puppets - Backwater
9. The White Stripes - Effect and Cause
10. Meat Puppets - The Whistle Song/Lost (on the freeway again)
11. Guster - Rise & Shine/I'm Through
12. The Cure - Love Song
13. Nirvana - Very Ape
Originally posted by GalaxyShieldI guess it's all about how you interpret the original post. I took it to mean, "Hey, I've gotten some good new music recommendations from some of you in the past. Can you recommend anything else?" Bearing that in mind, I wasn't terribly concerned with flow. Just hoping to introduce some new bands/people and/or tracks that others may not have heard of. That's hard to do with this group, but hopefully there were a few new ones on my mix. Some of the other participants had more flow (Palynka's in particular, I thought), but I pretty much chose to ignore it for this exercise. Normally though, I think it would be pretty important.

You posted some good tunes. My only criticism might be that I've heard most of them already, with the exception of Guster, who I'd heard of, but had never really listened to. I listened to some samples. Nice stuff. You might also like Spoon (start with Gimme Fiction...the second one is good too.). Also, maybe Cold War Kids' first two tracks on "Robbers & Cowards". If you like quirky stuff like Animal Collective, try Deerhoof or maybe even The Fiery Furnaces, "Blueberry Boat" (album).
Many good tracks listed in this thread. If you're looking for new music, I'd check out some of the tunes that got the most praise. You probably can't go wrong with any of them. Also, if there's someone on the site whose music you seem to like, check out their posts in the "What are you listening to" thread. Also check out message boards, pitchforkmedia...etc. Finally, last.fm and/or pandora.com are also good resources.

I meant to post this sooner...
A little overlap (Amon Tobin, Zero dB) between ours, but not too much. I'm a big fan of Tobin (I might have posted "Lighthouse" too if I hadn't shared that already) and that entire Zero dB album is very solid.
01 Jaymay - Gray or Blue
02 Zero dB - A Pompa Girou
03 Skalpel - Long Distance Call
04 Breathe Me - S ...[text shortened]... (Thievery Corporation Remix) - DJ Cam
15 Into Dust - Mazzy Star
edit - choons
02 Zero dB - A Pompa Girou - Love the second half of the song. Don't know why he needed 2:30 of lead in, before the song started.
03 Skalpel - Long Distance Call - Not something that would make me stop and listen, but nice background music.
04 Breathe Me - Sia - Really like this.
05 Tu M'intrigues - General Elektriks - Very nice. The experimental parts detract a little for me (ie: the last minute and a half).
06 Tamarindio - O Cote Soul Sounds & Adrian Quesada - Enjoyable enough. Not stand out for me.
07 To Catch a Thief - Nathaniel Merriweather (Dan The Automator) - Love it. Probably my fave track.
08 Part 4 - ( From Sixtoo, "Jackals & Vipers in Envy of Man" ) - Decent track. Doesn't do enough for me though.
09 Ankle Injuries - Fujiya & Miyagi - Quirky and fun. I rikey.
10 Beverly's Potato Orchestra - Venetian Snares - Not for me.
11 Blueberry Boat - The Fiery Furnaces - Not really my thing. Seems to be about 5 different songs in one. I like parts, but now the whole.
12 Creatures - Amon Tobin - Have been recommended Tobin in the past but have never gotten around to checking him out. I prefer this song to Palynka's, but wouldn't be crazy about either.
13 Transfatty Acid - Lamb - Nice choon. I have Fear of Fours, but have rarely listened. I'll have to give it a spin again.
14 Success (Thievery Corporation Remix) - DJ Cam - Good choon. Can't go too far wrong with TC.
15 Into Dust - Mazzy Star - As mentioned before, good memories.

I'd steer clear of darvin for a little while seeing as you posted one of his picks.
He's easily excited.

Ok, here goes...
01 - Atlas - Battles
--Excellent track. Not sure if it's my favorite on this mix, but it's certainly number 1 or 2. I'm glad you included this. Been meaning to check out Battles, but hadn't gotten around to it yet. Significantly more motivated now.
02 - Pioneer to the falls - Interpol
--This one's ok. Like I said about Arcade Fire, I've never quite warmed up to Interpol. I have this album and was so-so on it. This is a good tune though, and a decent follow up to track 1.
03 - Lost Time - Fridge
--I like this. Not my fav, but I do like it. It's got a bit of a "Broken Social Scene" thing going on.
04 - Burning - The Whitest boy alive
--Liked this. It reminded me of "Fine Day" from your first mix. Definitely a top track.
05 - Sprout and the bean - Joanna Newsom
--I like her stuff a lot, but I have to be in a certain mood. She's pretty amazing though.
06 - Laureline - The Gentlemen Losers
--This is excellent. I downloaded this album a while back on your recommendation. Good with headphones. This is a standout track.
07 - Beyond Repair - Christian Kleine
--Also liked this one, although it's probably not a standout on the mix.
08 - Old age for duke of slade - Freescha
--Another thumbs up. I recently downloaded this album too, although I think I'd give Gentleman Losers the edge.
09 - Eastern Glow - Album Leaf
--You're right about this one being a standout. Great tune. It's definitely in my top 3 here.
10 - Synthacon 9 - The Tuss
--So-so on this one. A little too 80's for me.
