Originally posted by rbmorrisAye, I really like it as well. It's just I seem to remember that darv mentioned before on here that listening to that song gave him wet socks.
I thought the "Battles" tune was great...one of my favorite tracks in dk3nny's mix.
01 - Atlas - Battles
-- Great choon. Not mad about the rest of the album.
02 - Pioneer to the falls - Interpol
-- There seems to be a glitch in the matrix. This is Killer's - Sam's Town on my pc (despite ID3 tags saying it's Interpol). I don't like Sam's Town, but Pioneer to the falls is fairly good. The album is growing on me with each listen.
03 - Lost Time - Fridge
-- A song I'd only really listen to at about 8am after a big night, while trying to unwind. Very nice though.
04 - Burning - The Whitest boy alive
--Really good. Thought I recognised Erland Oye. This project of his seems better than Kings of Convenience. I'll have to check out more.
05 - Sprout and the bean - Joanna Newsom
-- Was blown away by Joanna the first time I heard her, but find her a bit difficult to listen to now.
06 - Laureline - The Gentlemen Losers
-- Again, a little too chilled and single paced for me.
07 - Beyond Repair - Christian Kleine
-- Same chilled out style, although this is one I'd listen to more often.
08 - Old age for duke of slade - Freescha
-- Haven't gotten yet for some reason.
09 - Eastern Glow - Album Leaf
-- Love the violin. It suits my taste that there is an increase in tempo towards the end. Good track.
10 - Synthacon 9 - The Tuss
-- Rebirth sounds don't really do it for me anymore, although it does bring me back to 2nd year in Uni. 😉
As I mentioned, a number of tracks that I'd love to listen to when hooge chillage was needed.
Cheers DJ dk,

Originally posted by rbmorrisI think the harmonies at the end make the track really stand out for me.
Jens Lekman - Pocketful of Money
I like this one a lot. I'm not sure if the deep vocal towards the end works for me, I might have added a nice female vocal just to piss off Palynka. Overall, a very nice choon though.

12 - RJD2 - Good Times Roll Pt.2
13 - Lemon Jelly - '64 aka Go
--Not a huge fan of the Hives, but can't help nodding my head to this one.
02 - Prefuse 73 - The End of Biters
-- Never really been able to get into P73. This choon is a bit too short and sweet to make an impression on me.
03 - Cujo - Popsicle
--Much prefer this to the 2 Tobin choons posted. Its fun with good beats. Is this typical of the man pre-Tobin?
04 - Suba - Sereia
-- Very nice. Love Brazilian sounds. rhb is on the money with the comparison to Bebel. Hauntingly beautiful vocalists.
05 - Mão Morta - Tu Disseste
-- I like the backing music. As you mention I'm missing a lot in not understanding the lyrics, but they don't do much for me.
06 - Sofa Surfers - Elusive Scripts
-- You probably picked my standout track from Encounters. Not mad about the rest of the album, but this track is definitely strong. I think I'd prefer their album Cargo over Encounters, but Elusive Scripts is probably the strongest over the 2.
07 - Soul Position - Inhale.mp3
-- Another choon of yours which gets me moving. Will have to check out some more of these guys.
08 - Zero dB - Know What Im Sayin
-- Nice dark beats. I think you and rbhill picked the 2 best tracks from that album (after only one listen, mind). This track is listed as Samba Do Umbigo on my album though, with "Know what I'm saying" having mainly female vocals.
09 - Amon Tobin - The Lighthouse
-- Much too experimental for my delicate aural palate.
10 - Four Tet - Everything Is Alright
-- Nice track.
11 - DJ Krush and Toshinori Kondo - Ha-Doh
-- Nice and solid. Doesn't really grab my attention.
12 - RJD2 - Good Times Roll Pt.2
-- Good enough track. Probably not something I'd listen to too much though.
13 - Lemon Jelly - '64 aka Go
-- Ok.
Cheers Pal.

The Ginger Kid...
Always like your selections.
01) Radio Friendly.................................................Abdominal
--Great track to open it up. Excellent.
02) The Overlord...................................................Z-Trip & Lateef
--Best track in the mix. You're on a roll here.
03) Under Mi Sensi.................................................Barrington Levy
--I know I'll probably get crucified for saying this, but I'm just not a huge reggae fan. I guess I got a little burnt out on it (literally) in college. Anyway, distancing myself a bit from my bias, not a bad tune I guess. Just not quite my thing.
04) Jungle Man Corner...........................................Smith & Mighty
Still reggae, but moving in the right direction.
05) Babylon Rising.................................................DJ Fresh
--My fav of tracks 3-5. I like the way it picks up at about the 1:30 point.
06) All That Jazz....................................................DJ Fresh
--Good stuff. A solid selection.
07) Come As You Are.............................................Dani Siciliano
--This was awesome.
08) Breathe Me (Four Tet Remix).............................Sia
--Good, but mine was better. 😉
09) Don't Lose Yourself...........................................Laura Veirs
--Love the piano in this. Nice.
10) That Home.....................................................The Cinematic Orchestra
--Can't go wrong with The Cinematic Orchestra.
11) A Place I Call Home.........................................Ooberman
--Continuing on the "home" theme. Nice follow up to the C.O. track.
12) Suicide............................................................Unkle With South
--Excellent. This sounds like something off the "Product of the Environment" album.
13) Everything Is Under Control (Solid Groove Dub)...Coldcut
--Top-notch! Far better than the original IMO.
14) Maga.............................................................Go Lem System
--Not my thing.
15) Eleanor Rigby..................................................B.B.Seaton
--Fifth reggae tune...but I have to admit, I do sorta like this.
A lot of tracks that wouldn't normally be in my played list, but have definitely enjoyed listening through.
01) Radio Friendly.................................................Abdominal
--Like the irony. Enjoyable and fun track.
02) The Overlord...................................................Z-Trip & Lateef
--Decent track. Never got around to listening to Dilated People much.
03) Under Mi Sensi.................................................Barrington Levy
--Enjoyed listening to this track. Brought me back to my days living in the 'Sham and listening to Ragga/Jungle.
04) Jungle Man Corner...........................................Smith & Mighty
--Defo brought me back. My musical tastes have moved on from jungle.
05) Babylon Rising.................................................DJ Fresh
-- This is more like it. Reminds me a lot of Shy FX.
06) All That Jazz....................................................DJ Fresh
-- I'm sure I danced to DJ Fresh (without knowing it) at a soundsystem in Notting Hill Carnival. Again, reminds me of Shy FX, and Shake Ur Body (a buddy of mine was a dancer on the vid)
07) Come As You Are.............................................Dani Siciliano
--Excellent cover.
08) Breathe Me (Four Tet Remix).............................Sia
My kind of choon. Will have to check her out.
09) Don't Lose Yourself...........................................Laura Veirs
-- Nice touch of breakbeat. Nice female vocals. Winner.
10) That Home.....................................................The Cinematic Orchestra
- One of Ma Fleur's stronger tracks. I actually think this is one of their weakest albums, probably because I'm not a big fan of Anthony and the Johnsons, who I think this vocalist sounds like. And he features of quite a few of the Ma Fleur tracks.
11) A Place I Call Home.........................................Ooberman
--Have tried listening to it a few times, and I blink and it's over.
12) Suicide............................................................Unkle With South
-- Sexy Beast is on tonight on Film4, and I've never seen it, and I won't tonight either. The choon is ok.
13) Everything Is Under Control (Solid Groove Dub)...Coldcut
--Decent track, which I'd enjoy more if I was in a dark bar, drinking Mojito's and watching beautiful laydee's.
14) Maga.............................................................Go Lem System
--Nice track. I've enjoyed Go Lem system on your pervious rec.
15) Eleanor Rigby..................................................B.B.Seaton
-- Really enjoyed this in your mix tape that you sent me.
Cheers ginger nuts,

And rb, if you can find me something from the 80's that sounds even remotely like that, let me know!
Granted though it is a acidy/synth sound that was pretty popular in the early 90's though there ain't many people who can make sounds like that imho.
Have listened to all yer mixes and am damn impressed, some wicked sounds and has resulted in me adding some albums to my to-buy list. Have been pretty antisocial at work recently too with my headphones on all day listening to yer submissions 😉
Will post a few of my favs from yer mixes but ain't going to do a full blow by blow review..
Also, don't know if any of you mess around with music software but myself and a mate have started doing a little remix challenge.. Basically take a tune, play around with it, chop, mix, distort and come back with your new version of the song, in this case with a 2 week window..
I'm probably going to use Soundforge to chop up some samples from the song, then Ableton Live for sequencing, effects and maybe mix another song with it.. dunno, going to start tomorrow and see where it goes.
Would any of you be interesting in trying something like that? I can provide the software if necessary ( ahem: legal notice : dk3nny does not advocate software piracy in any way or ...... 😉 ).
It'd be a fun learning excercise anyway, I'm only really learning myself, just downloaded the full version of Ableton about 2 weeks ago.
If anyone is up for it are we can agree on a simple enough 4x4 song we can then take it from there...
