It would probably take me 3 months to get to Cork on public transport so i can only make Dublin. Sat 30th is my preferred date but I would be able to flex work hours if another date was more popular.

I have to go for Dublin as I live here, even though I'm from Cork which is a far nicer place than this smelly city. October 7th would probably be the best date for me.

Down with Dubland! I vote for Cork, any time in October.

Semi blatant bump, reading this, know an Irishman, point him this way. He may grunt and say something rude. Just write him a note he'll probably read it when he sobers up.

I know this is off the topic, but i know there will be some Dubs reading it.

Where's the best place to buy a Chess board in Dublin?

I've tried the square, but no joy. I just want a traditional set, non of your art decco sheit, not to expensive (i dont want to worry about losing it at the meet), but the whereabouts of a better set would also be a good thing to know ?

I think that the way the vote has gone up to now we are looking at Dublin on either the 30th Sept or 14th Oct with 30th favourite. The main problem will be trying to get the Cork guys up to Dubland... C'mon it's only one weekend! Boris I'm pretty sure we'll be able to sort something out with regards to crashing somewhere... Well I hope so anyway.

To all those in and around Dublin, does anybody know of a good spot to hold this meet. Please bear in mind that it is Saturday afternoon/night. Anyone know of a chess club in the area... where do they meet we could invade and throw stuff at them, then carry on drinking. Don't make me do this by phone... someone must know of a decent local pub which wouldn't mind.

If yous decide quick enough, i can tell you if i can put Boris up.
When the date is decided, i can get the day off organised, then get the land lord to give me the spare room for the night (oct 14th will be harder to get it, but not impossible ).

One good pub in Smithfield called the Quill, right beside the Four Courts and approx 10 minute walk from Heuston Train Station.
They have chess sets behind the bar, had a few games and pints there a few times so I wouldnt imagine any hassles setting up a meetup there.

Bout 10 mins from temple bar and various kebab houses as well.

Depending on numbers theres a lounge upstairs as well.
Havent been there in about a year but presume it hasnt changed. Will check place out if ye want me too beforehand.
