I am with dyl and Andrew on this one.My motto:"No regrets"Live life to the fullest.Experience as much as possible because you only get one shot.Excuse the pun.
I will not commit suicide as I am too curious about what tomorrow will bring.Greet dawn with a kiss and night with a clenched fist.
I believe when you die it is over.like before you were born. You know nothing.
If there is some superior being out there he/she/it has a very twisted sense of humour.
Hang in there buddy. You get out what you put in.
I am 72 years young and I feel that I have had a great life. There have been ups and downs to it and some things if I could I would have changed but than if I had changed them where would I be now. Stick with it what ever your going through will be over with and you will go on. As for after life I am a Christian enough said.

Think about it. If the Bible is correct, we are going to a much better place after death. If the Quaran is correct, we will come back as another animal.
Wouldn't you rather do one of those than just rot?
Let's get back to the original topic.
What happens in the after life is like playing a chess move. You have to wait.
If it was chess it would be a simple two move variation.
Variation 1) There is after life.
Variation 2) Dead means Dead.
Let's play it like chess.
I would look at variation 1) because I don't like variation 2)
I would then alter my behavior in favour to support the variation 1).
That would cause sub-variations.
Who is God?
What is afterlife?
So I would go back to variation 2)
I still don't like variation 2),but have I explored it enough?
That would cause many sub-varations about relationships with Mum and Dad and Brothers and Sisters and friends and colleagues and the rest.
If I was playing this move I would think about the positives people can give to those around them rather than the negative of taking it all away.

Originally posted by missleadReally superb post. If everyone made their decisions with such openmindedness (although I think there are more than 2 variations there if you look at it properly), much of the confusion of the human experience would be lifted. Miss Hope, I recommend that you take misslead's advice very seriously.

Easy on Orkeyboy! You might want to spend some time reading a dictionary. Life is for living, loving and laughing. 😏

For those that do not read, there is a movie version with Jack Lemmon and Hank Azaria...
I agree with much that has been said about the point of life being experience, or rather experiences. Riding my bicycle down the backstreets of Kyoto behind a girl whose long black hair is dancing in the wind; seeing a monk in baggy brown robes on a bicycle with big square rearview mirrors; touching your wife's stomach and feeling a baby moving inside her; doing a job where you have a chance to make people smile or maybe even change their lives for the better. These are but a few moments. I have read The Hitch Hikers series, The Alchemist and Tuesdays with Morrie and they were all great books, but especially The Hitch Hiker's Guide to The Galaxy because it made me laugh. I also like a poem which goes something like this:
"Come let us go a travelling
For the world is all our own;
Half its paths are still untrod
And half its joys unknown.
The road that leads to winter
Will lead to summer too
For all roads lead to other roads
Where we may start anew."
As for what happens after death I'd cross that bridge when I come to it.

P.S. Miss Hope while you have sparked some interesting responses you haven't actually participated in this thread yourself for quite a while. I hope you are still amongst us.

What is the point of life?
Before replying to this post, think about it.
Honestly, it is very hard to come up with one!
If you can come up with an answer, I will not end mine.
Miss Hope-
The Mysterious
It is very difficult at your age. At 55, it is easy. Death happens every time you go to sleep. Is that what you want? Or would you rather sneak up on a beach party, midnight, no moon... with an ak-47 loaded with blanks and open fire on fifty people yelling "Death to all of you!" Hell, watch em' scatter and laugh. < I actually did this once... good clean fun. Very anti-social, but that is what i was.>
What is the point of life?
To be born.
To eat and grow.
To learn to reason. (this is the key)
To procreate.
To Draw as much from MidLife as it sucks from you. <Hold Your Own>
To grow old ENJOYING THE MEMORY OF THE MISERABLE PART that came first.
To Die.
If you skip any of these, you are just lazy. Go for it. Hell, come visit me and we'll steal an airplane! Or something exciting that will guaran'damn tee you won't want to kill yourself. Do anything. Exciting is good. Surprise someone. Surprise yourself. When you get close to death from being 100 years old... I dare you to say, "Geez! Sure Wish I would have killed myself when i was 14! These last 86 years have really been a bummer!"... Bull... just do something to get out of WHATEVER IS KILLING YOU. Been there... done that.
