you have to define "rock" a little more narrowly..do you mean popular
or do you mean heavy metal or do you mean a more tradional rock and roll style >,,,,i think it is tony bennett myself..

Journey hands down, this thread can now end because there is no 80s-90s group better than them (Steve Perry's voice is second only to Freddie Mercury's) than maybe Aerosmith, but most of Aerosmith's good stuff was from the 70s

Triumph comes to mind.. If you're into hardcore metal, Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden. They wouldn't be my choices, but they have their place.

Alice in chains had several tracks that were phenomenal, but nothing after that.

Nine Inch Nails too were prominent. Bush maybe?

try the 1960s and 1970s if you care for rock ('60s and '70s)

There is no single best rock musician or group, but Pink Floyd has no peers. I'm not referring to Dave Gilmore's band after the break-up either. Syd Barrett's PF and then Waters and Gilmore working together have no peer. Post-The Wall Pink Floyd is just another good band.
