"Let's step outside"

Correct I did, but if the fellow asks me to step outside and I let him take the first swing inside, then we are equally responsible in the sense we both agreed to fight. What happens would be left for a jury to decide if it went that far. I've never had a bar room brawl go to court. YOU? If you ever been involved the fight ends up into a bar room brawl as others end up getting involved.

@chaney3
The devil would be in the detail of the story. Who suggested taking it outside? Did the other person feel coerced to go out by the threat of what would happen if they didn't? Was being asked outside proportionate to what had gone on before? Was it a reaction in the heat of the moment or had one of them been stalking the other waiting for the opportunity while carrying a concealed weapon? Premeditation? Basically the court case would be based around what the detail of the story was considered to be based on credible witness accounts which would be tested etc... Many different outcomes would be possible.

I've never heard of a bar room brawl going to court that I can re-call.

That is why you never see a bar fight go to court. Who really started it? What happened? Who threw the first punch? Hard to prove any of it without cams or someone taped it. Then there is a question did they get it from the start? A lot of the time everyone ends up becoming friends or goes to hospital for stitches, or both happen.

I guess I'm taking 'whoop his ass' to mean it went further, so actual bodily harm or grievous bodily harm. I've heard of somebody getting eight years for manslaughter for swinging one punch. Single punch killings are more common than you might think. It just takes the skull to fracture over the middle meningeal artery; the bone nicks the artery causing an extradural haemorrhage. If people just think the guy is out cold and drunk, but don't act, arterial pressure blood builds up inside the skull compressing the brain and after a few hours that results in death. The trick is to look for unequal pupils if somebody has lost consciousness after a punch and call an ambulance. They need a hole drilling in their skull to release the pressure.

LOL@ the gooster, perhaps where you live they all go to court. Not where I am from.

I don't know how things are today just how they use to be. Haven't been in a bar room brawl in many years, just many fond memories.

You ever been in a bar room brawl gooster? I really can't see it myself! 😉

I've never seen that happen, perhaps we make them tougher in these parts r-r? 😉

I've seen a few knocked out though.

@chaney3

Depends on the country, state/province, city/town, how the cops are, damages done, etc etc...

There's an awful lot of pubs out there, but very few AED departments (emergency rooms). Odds on seeing it in the pub are very low. Odds on seeing one arrive at your local AED are a lot higher. 😉

the one who throws the first punch is the one who breaks the law
'your right ends where my nose begins'

Aside from going to a boxing ring, there must be a scenario where 2 people are allowed to fight.

Especially if both agreed to it.
