By helping your stalwart vassal expand his possessions, perhaps...

I have no Lord, is this what grates with thee? That I would not swear allegiance. I'll let you know that I intended to play this game as an independant commoner, I think that vassals are at an immediate disadvantage and that this game favours the royals so heavily that it would be impossible for a commoner to win the game. I guess i've proved my theory.

Yes, things are pretty hopeless without adequate financial backing.

No. I think my message is clear for the one who needs to know. 😛

Kimonos ... far too pretty and expensive - give me a jinbei any day!

If I build in a city and gift the province to someone in the same turn, do the troops get built?

I think so.

Not as I read the rules. I think troop building is one of the very last things to happen. By that time, I'm betting that the province is already gifted.

But I could be wrong, it's happened before...

I'll get my copy and read the fine print.

Edit: While province ownership changes before troops are built, province gifted happens after - hope it works as I'd hate to throw the gold away ...

It appears that this is correct. Also, any troops you make (and are thus still in the garrison when the province is handed over) are automatically placed into new units, so you cannot use this as a way to give troops. They get the province with an empty garrison and the troops you just made are in a new unit in the same province, but outside the garrison. I'm not sure what happens if you don't have passage rights set up between you and the person you give the province to.

Has anyone had enough experience with this scenario to confirm if this is correct? I mean, something in the rules and its implementation in the game can sometimes be two different things.

I believe I've purchased troops in AoC while gifting a Province at the same time. I got the troops.
