Byzantine's been moving, just not very effectively. He kamikaze'd the Heavy Cavalry he had trapped in Bosnia into Serbia this turn and he's been pumping crossbows into Byzantium like nobody's business.
So they have a new leader, eh? Interesting.

One would think that an invader would have to take more than one province every couple of seasons before they have a serious claim to an empire which has 7 provinces, an army with over 500 more combat strength than the invader and a fleet which could easily wipe the invader's off the sea. Maybe you should actually take something of theirs more serious than an outlying province worth 4 gold before you lay claim to their empire, King of Hungary.
I would think you have bigger fish to fry, my friend.
This game is definitely interesting, and I've been fooling with the idea of hosting a game or two of VGA Planets. I ran several simultaneous games of it back in the day when I ran a BBS, and it was great fun. In order to gain maximum enjoyment from this game, you might have to register your copy of the client and get more in-game options, but at least there would be no monthly fee to play, like there is here if you become a Royal. The turns are done exactly like this, conferred by email, so that is not a problem. There are only 11 races in VGA Planets, though, so fewer players, but heck, there's no restriction on number of games, so I don't see a problem with that.
For further info on the game itself, see http://www.vgaplanets.com
For at least the first few games, I'd like to use version 3 of the game, since I already have all that software ready to go. Also, I never played version 4, so that would be a giant step up for all of us (more complicated instructions and rules).
Also, once we get going on VGAP, any one could take their turn hosting a game, so there should be no shortage of games to get involved in after a while, and I'd get to play, too ๐ (I'm against the host playing in a game, for obvious reasons)
Just let me know what y'all think of this idea...

But he's doing nothing with them. Look at all his empty provinces. And armies of crossbowmen won't win wars. He's playing purely defensively.
With 36 gold per turn from Byzantium alone, he could just sit there and amass stuff. It's already too large for one realm to take alone.
But my problem is that with so many troops there, he could always load some up and strike any number of territories without lowering his defense too badly. It's a dangerous situation no matter how you look at it.
I think he's just playing a waiting game, hoping for an ally to come to his rescue ๐ Like the Alamo, he could tie up his enemies for a long time, but unlike the Alamo, reinforcements could come at almost any time, as long as he can tough it out in the meantime.

Which BBS did you run?
Originally posted by buffalobillWell, it could be a move a day or a move a month, it's all up to the host. I usually ran the turn once I got everyone's file. So while it wasn't every day, it was certainly 2 or 3 times a week. The point is that because I'm hosting it, a turn can take as long or as little as you guys want. (For my own sanity, though, 1 to 3 times a week is probably best, especially if I have multiple games going.)

And I don't know what the statute of limitations is on pirating software, so I'm not telling the name of the BBS. Also, I have a government job now, so mum's the word... ๐
