After the very successful "Chess" round of the photography competition, we are now preparing for the next round, "Still Life" (an arrangement of inanimate objects). Considering that some people may be on vacation around Easter, and this category may also require some experimenting, I'll give you a bit over three weeks to get your pictures in. The deadline for entering is Friday, 21 April.

In this round, it will be possible to enter pictures which you don't want to be part of the competition for some reason (e.g. because you have more than three pictures, or they don't fit the category well enough), but which you would like people to view and discuss. These pictures will be displayed on the same page, but people won't be allowed to vote for them. It's entirely up to you to decide which pictures you want to have in which section (voting / no voting), as long as you don't send more than three pictures for the voting section. Send your entries to rhpphotocomp@gmail.com , together with the following information:

* Title
* Comment: Advanced editing, for example removing or adding objects, use of special effect filters or major colour adjustments, must be mentioned. Other comments, for example details about the equipment and settings, basic editing or some background info on the picture, are optional, but encouraged. If in doubt whether something is basic or advanced editing, just ask, or even better, simply give a little more information than absolutely necessary.
* Your RHP nickname (that won't be revealed before the round is over)
* Which section the picture should be in (I'll assume it's for the voting section unless otherwise stated)

Please keep the file size under 200 kB, and the picture shouldn't be bigger than 1024x768 (I'd suggest 800x600).

The pictures will be displayed on my webspace. You can choose to have your pictures removed when the round is over. You can also choose to leave them there, but have your name (real name or RHP nick) added.

If you are new to the competition, you might want to have a look at previous rounds: Thread 38433 (Comp History), Thread 37850 (Humour), and Thread 39665 (Chess).

If you have further questions, ask them here or send me a PM.

I think its time we have a special Forum dedicated for such wonderful activities.

Cheers Nordlys for organising this, the site is becoming much more interesting and I demand they give you and all the others who contribute at least a discount on your next subscription! 😉

Donno if am gonna give it ago, but best of luck to all who do.

An "extra-murals" forum? Games, competitions, etc...?

On the plus side we wouldn't have to wade through the usual general forum nonsense. Game/competition threads would stay near the top much longer. No need to constantly bump the threads...

On the negative side, and its a big negative, there might be far less traffic on a dedicated forum. So less entries, less votes, less interest.

On the other hand there is a possibility that a dedicated forum may attract a new set of participants who wouldn't be seen dead in the General forum. And there is nothing to stop us promoting these activities in the General forum anyway.

So on balance, I think it would be an excellent move.

Far from wanting a discount for participating in these extra-murals, I feel embarrassed at having so much fun at RHP for so lttle.

I agree with the plus side, the negative side, and the other hand. 😉 I am not sure about the balance, I guess we'd have to give it a try to find out. Anyway, I am too undecided and lazy to suggest it in the Site Ideas Forum, but maybe someone else is less undecided and lazy.

You should really be ashamed that you have so much fun. Pent and repent!
