@Indonesia-Phil saidMe also; he was a good friend for 12 years or more away from the RHP crazy.
Yeah, it's true this time, and there are many who will miss his company, myself included, we became good friends away from RHP and the sometimes toxic and unforgiving forums....
Sadly relations between he and I deteriorated several months ago (triggered by his illness I suspect), but I’ll always miss his humour, warmth and insight.
I never met him face to face but he was so very influential in helping me realize something of my creative spirit during the pandemic; recognizing my writing, offering a format and platform to express myself, and introducing me to an amazing group of friends across the pond who I cherish.
FMF, the world is better for your being in it. I hope you and Jerry are having so much fun making music and laughter wherever you are.
If you hear that same sweet song again
Will you know why?
Anyone who sings a tune so sweet
Is passin' by
Laugh in the sunshine, sing
Cry in the dark, fly through the night
Don't cry now, don't you cry
Don't you cry anymore, la, la, la, la
Sleep in the stars, don't you cry
Dry your eyes on the wind, la, la, la, la
**Birdsong was his favorite GD tunes…
Fly through the night, my friend. ❤️

My sympathies to @d and @I-P -- at the time of the public post it didn't seem right to bother either of you by PM for a confirmation, just in case it were really true.
FMF introduced some pertinent phrases into our forum discussions, such as "online disinhibition" and "tall-poppy syndrome".
Now that I have learned more about Indonesia and its history, I have come to appreciate what he was doing with his "Bag of Onions" radio show and how beneficial that must have been to the various contributors locally and around the world.

You put that that very well Hakima! He did so much for many people all around the world, particularly young students of Indonesia. His life was sadly cut short, him being 60 or 61, but he did so much with his life and he enjoyed it all too. I shall never forget him.
@Proper-Knob saidSad news, we hardly ever agreed, he was a force to be reckoned with.
FMF - longtime contributor to these forums unexpectedly passed away this week.
@moonbus saidmoonbus,
Sorry to hear of his passing. I knew Tom Lehrer in the 1970s, when he was a math professor at U.C. Santa Cruz. We used to talk about black holes over lunch in the cafeteria. He was a modest man, and, I think, a little embarrassed at his slightly celebrity status. He was a hit on the tv show 'That Was The Week That Was', which many think was a precursor to SNL, and of course, ...[text shortened]... s were committed to memory. The Masochism Tango: "go put on your cleats and come and trample me...."
Was this Tom Lehrer one half of the "McNeil Lehrer Report" on PBS/NPR
@Earl-of-Trumps saidUnlikely.

@Suzianne saidThere is an excellent Apollo 13 documentary currently running on Netflix. At least it is in the UK.
Jim Lovell is one of my personal heroes. Sad to hear he's passed.
Godspeed, Jim.
It strips away the gloss of the (albeit excellent) movie and dives into the detail exposing the terrifying ordeal.
@diver saidI'd like to see this.

Can you find the name of it for me?
