Gunther von Hagens, 81. Controversial inventor of the process known as plastination--whereby a body is preserved w/clear plastic. Useful for anatomists and anatomy students. He trod on taboos in several countries when he took his collection of 'plastinators' on tour; some derided this as a Barnum and Bailey freak show. All the people who were plastinated had consented to the process.
