Ah geez, sorry to hear about that! Those miserable SOBs. Let us know if you recover your auto. I think plenty of people do exactly what you do to warm up their cars. Hope it all works out OK my friend!

Don't beat yourself up over this. It's a drag and not likely to be anything but a complicated hassle. Freakin' insurance companies. When we got burglarized a few years back the cops said they would not do much other than file the report and then "it will be a crime against the insurance company". What a load of crap that was, he obviously had never been burglarized. What a goofy prick he was...

cheers frank...yes it is a hassle...but the police turned up much quicker than i expected so i was making things up as i went along...i hope i can remeber what i said when claim form comes .they said(police) they have to react to burglaries much quicker now due to government pressure...if i told them id left engine running,it would of been next week before they arrived i guess..weve even had a scene of crimes person checking for dabs on front door...if they recover the car it will have to go for the same...and we'll have to pay :'(

"Theft by finding", then...

They should bring back the birch for these so-called "hoodies." I saw one at 3am kicking the sh** out of a neighbour's car. Later that morning, I went to see the neighbour to report what I'd seen. She said: "Don't worry; that was my son!" We even have chavs and hoodies in Perth & Kinross, now. Heaven help us. :'(

Even bigger than you know, lying to the police and your insurance company.

Think about the consequences when you get caught.

I hope the police find your car quickly and the perpetrators tell them how lucky they were to find that some numpty had left the keys in the ignition and the engine running.

Yea, but lying to police and insurance is even worse than the actual car theft itself.

You are not wrong dude.
But my Scottish brethren hopes for it.
Hang the hoodies, not the innocent.
Theft is wrong and they forced his hand, we should all be able to leave our stuff unattended without some scroat walking of with it.

Lying to the p*gs and insurance co. is surely a victimless crime, unlike having your motor TDA'd...

Harsh.

Not as harsh as it will be for his family if he ends up in jail.

Ok, it was nasty to lose his car, but committing a further crime to cover it up is not the answer.
