I'm an Indigenious American, for the first time since I was a young girl, I see true hope not only for all Indigenous people, but true equality for all. I was telling my 16 yr old to remember this day. Which got me to remember things I have seen in my lifetime.
For those who can remember this. If you recall the photos reel of the shooting of JFK SR, the couple who had a baby stroller, with the young toddler, standing holding the hand of her mother. I was that toddler. I have to this day my own version of this assisination. I had turned 2 in May of that year.
Then Seeing man walk on the moon, space shuttle take off and land ( with out the parachuts of the apollo mission.) And the sad day Challenger exploded.
So today as one of color ( even though I am mixed) I look forward to hope for the possibilties of treatys being honored.
The ability to no longer see my neighbor as one of X race but a fellow American. As a founder of Indigenous Americans for Peace, this elections give me hope for a peaceful end to the war in Iraq ( I support the troops, not this war)
