What I believe she means is that tragedies happen when we are not prepared: accidents, the loss of a loved one, happen every day to somebody somewhere. My father died at the age of 55 of a heart attack when we least expected it. It was an extra-ordinary thing at an ordinary instant.

I recall a movie quote, something like this:

- Look mum, Harry is not getting married. I live with him, we love each other and I'm perfectly happy. We are gay, mum.
