I hope you are not talking about kindergarten kids. There is a time and place and that is way to early. In my opinion. A simple I don't want you to say those words ever again is a good enough explanation for now. It might be confusing to them but so is Santa.
I wouldn't explain what exactly it means. I would probably say something like that it's used to insult others, and that I don't want them to use it, without getting angry at them. If it were the s-word or for example the Norwegian "faen", which means "devil" and is a quite strong swear word comparable to the f-word (although it's much milder in the north than in the south), I would probably also explain the meaning (in case of the s-word, I guess they'd know that anyway).

Of course you don't. You don't trust anyone's spelling but your own. Look it up. There are two correct spellings.
I don't always trust my own spelling, that's why I ask people to correct me if I spell something wrong.

I don't know which word you were referring to. I meant "APROVAL", of course.

So for the s-word you would tell them something like; "it's what the polar bears do in the woods?"

Yes, thank you.

I don't know what any of us would do without you typo police around.

Yeah. And then I would explain what polar bears are, and that there are actually no woods where they live, but that they would do it in the woods if there were woods. And that humans don't usually use the woods, but the toilet instead.

Sounds like an awful lot of explaining.

It might not get the same results but yes I feel that way regardless of how far fetched you find it. Many a child has jumped off a roof thinking they could fly like Superman, some survived some didn't. People will buy high ...[text shortened]... me from the same manufacturer is sold cheaper and has the same quality.

The King has spoken.
Wow...I heard some people were opposed to the Harry Potter books but I found it hard to believe. These full length novels that have encouraged so many young childern to take up reading seem wholly good to me. A great work of imagination and a story well told. Good against evil etc.

I would not expect anyone reading them to beleive the whole wizard/hogwarts thing is real anymore than I'd expect someone to beieive Captain Kirk flies around the universe in the enterprise (apologies to any trekkies if this comes as a bit of a blow)

Indeed. It would be a lot easier to simply tell them that it means "bæsj". But you wanted me to start with the polar bears.

Sure, next you'll be telling me that the Easter Bunny isn't real either. 😉😛
