Well, I tried it today. Sorry, I couldn't film it, but since it was in Norwegian (except for the word starting with f), you wouldn't have understood it anyway. Of course, as I am not a teacher I couldn't do it entirely for real, I had to use the "imagine I were your child's teacher" approach, which may make it a little less realistic. Anyway, I asked two of ...[text shortened]... ent discussion about swear words today. I guess we are all eejits.
Also, note how they qualified the conversation with their child having used the word. You were supposed to say, "No, just out of the blue... I want to teach this word to your children".

I never said I would teach it to children who have never used it. I wouldn't.

Today we're going to learn some new words.

Well, I can't stop you from being a fan of Fox new.
I believe in free speech and therefore, even though I disagree with the racist, bigoted, tripe they spout I frimly believe in their right to spout it.
Good Luck to you.
And I still very much doubt this is where your children learnt the phrase "dirty Mexicans".
Originally posted by PhlabibitThat's an absurd scenario. If I wouldn't work with the child or be friends with the family, there wouldn't be any reason why I should explain to the child what a swear word means.

Edit: As I said, I am not a teacher, but the colleague I talked to is a teacher, and she also talked about how important it is to tell the parents when you get a new class how she would handle swear words. Most of these parents will be complete strangers at that point, so I think that's about as close as you can get to your suggested scenario. It seems she never got negative reactions.
