The forums here, especially General, are for posting. I don't see that being misused, it seems to be working as intended, since we are all free to post about whatever we want, within reason.
I said misuse because as many have said already, the rec system was supposed to be for *recommending* posts you think are of benefit to others. This has been twisted into what it is now, a contest to see who can be the nastiest to others i.e. misuse.
