Let's stop this argument right now, and ask Russ exactly when did the Recommended posts page become unavailable?
It wasn't that long ago, man... even if a month is an eon on the internet.
(and just for the PFC types who want to dissemble by saying "it was down for longer than a month, stupied" or something equally facetious, *I KNOW* it was longer tha ...[text shortened]... a full year.)
The rec system blew even before the Recommended posts page was taken away.
I've found some great threads in the past by visiting the Recommended Posts.

You could say that the Internet has been a giant step forward for mankind, and that may be true, but it's also a cesspool.
Take away the reward for posting garbage and the garbage will reduce, as it eliminates an incentive to take the time.
In short, it's a case of lowest common denominator.

People post garbage because they can, not because some pleb will tick a link to rec a post.
*shakes head in wonder*

Does knowing this make you feel any different?

Now people can stop with the foolish argument that the Recommended posts page was used as intended before it was taken away.
I had no clue it was not that long ago. Even I thought *maybe* 6 months.
People pointing back less than 2 months and saying "everything was cool before they took it away" have extremely poor memories, as I said.

As well as people who clutter up the forums with stupid thread spin-offs hoping for a rec.
I realize the biggest a-holes will remain so. Maybe with the rec system gone, they won't be *quite* so huge, and it might eliminate the "drive-by" rec done by those who think an insult is the highest form of comedy.
