I listened to 8 songs tonight, including the full Computer section (see what I was up against). My vote there goes to Rag for a tune that had me smiling, - Props to all entries in that category though - all hold up well in the listen.

Will do. Partly posted the above to remind myself what I've done so far... this could be a slow process as I've not much PC time at the moment.

I am glad my music could evoke aurora images in you. It was rather unusual for me to try to base an improvisation on something visual. I am a quite non-visual person, and music very, very rarely evokes images in me. I tried to think of the aurora and of sounds which could describe it (coming up with flageolette and tremolo, and dark sounds to describe the night) before I started the improvisation, but while I was improvising I actually didn't think much, if at all, about the aurora.

Lol. It's true that the aurora ("nordlys" in Norwegian) can be like a drug... http://home.online.no/~khgott/PLD.html (note IIb) πŸ˜‰

....but but but;

(a) Tends to steer the conversation round to the aurora within minutes
(b) Is a member of at least three internet forums, chats or mailing lists on the aurora
(c) Owns several books on the aurora and has actually read them; and/or has at least twice as many bookmarks to internet pages on the aurora, magnetometers etc. as on other subjects
(d) Has aurora pictures as wallpaper
(e) Has an own page about the aurora on the internet
(f) Takes at least five times as many pictures of the aurora as of other things

Thats YOU 😡

Do you own a magnetometer...? Bonus answer to qualify you for stage 1 of 5 to be a Polar Light Disease sufferer...

I never.. would have never.. ever ever.. would have guessed that such thing actually exists..

And they say drugs are bad... πŸ™„

Starrman - in Girl at the Carnival, don't you think the constant cymbal beat could (or should) be left out? Good composition tho.

Actually the prediction is that it will be "up to 50 percent stronger", not twice as strong. http://tinyurl.com/z3uqr
And I have heard that there are other experts who predict that the next maximum will be weaker than normal. Well, we'll see what happens.

(Sorry for hijacking this thread for a moment, I'll give it back now.)

Well maybe the predictions will cannabalize one another as Xanth
says in his math thread and cancel out and we will have a normal one
this time.
BTW on a different note, very high pitched actually, 28,505,000 hertz
to be exact, normally pisspoor long distance skip due to being in
the minimum of the solar cycle, still managed to talk tonight from
my car across the country for about one hour, twilight mode
transmission. Unusual for this part of the cycle.

Hey peach, you ever see a good aurora? Maybe if you had you would
understand the fascination with them, even if they are just earths
neon light display, knowing what they are in reality actually adds to
the aura as it were. Because in fact the aurora starts as a humungus
proton storm on the sun, hydrogen minus its electron, and comes
flying out of the sun at many KM/second and when this incredible
cloud hits the earth, our magnetic field deflects it to the north and
south poles and I personally think the whole affair awesome to think
about. Course thats just me, a lot of people have lost the gift of
wonder.

I think Star is giving a couple of weeks. I have been spreading the
word over PM's so maybe some actual non entrants will vote too!
BTW, I love your middle picture on the site, dazzling smile!
