I reckon you'd come in under Instrumentals, your computer being your instrument.
Then there is singer/songwriter, which I take to mean the writer sings the lyrics (mandatory) of the song, with or without backing.
Then there are Bands performing an original work.
Finally, there are cover versions of other works.
All of the above require a "performance" - there is no catagory just for composition, even though one of the "awards" is for best composer.
Anyway, I've submitted an entry. I'll let Starrman figure out what to do with it!
Originally posted by GatecrasherI consider computers as much of an instrument as a guitar. They both require musical talent and instrumental skill to use well. Consequently the 'Instrumental' category will be open to computer users (I shall be entering a computer piece), as well as to players of more traditional instruments.

I have sent my entry in.
How many entries in each category so far Starrman>
There's still time to get your entries in people and I'm more han happy to help out if I can, so get something sent in!

If I can manage to get some time to myself with my home recording set up I might think about it.

Drat. I forgot to take the minidisk player I use at work home last week, and I am on sick leave until the end of the week (at least). It would have been fun to experiment a bit with improvisation. But I have no other means of recording.
Originally posted by StarrmanI am not promising anything, but I'll see what I can do. I hate to give you more work, but if I manage to get something together, would you be able to make an MP3 of it if I'd send you the minidisk? I could also put it on a tape if that's better for you. I don't have the tools to do that myself, and I don't think I know anyone here who does either.

Hi starr, did you manage to kill that annoying restart thing I seem
to have collected on my mp3's? If you listened, you will see they
start over for a few seconds, don't know why. Can you delete those
few seconds of startover?
Thanks. Don
