But that catagory appears to be for people who are playing a solo instrument or singing in an original work.

Then there is singer/songwriter, which I take to mean the writer sings the lyrics (mandatory) of the song, with or without backing.

Then there are Bands performing an original work.

Finally, there are cover versions of other works.

All of the above require a "performance" - there is no catagory just for composition, even though one of the "awards" is for best composer.

Anyway, I've submitted an entry. I'll let Starrman figure out what to do with it!

I consider computers as much of an instrument as a guitar. They both require musical talent and instrumental skill to use well. Consequently the 'Instrumental' category will be open to computer users (I shall be entering a computer piece), as well as to players of more traditional instruments.

Not entirely sure at the last count, but at least there seems to be a competition now (ie: more than one song in each).

There's still time to get your entries in people and I'm more han happy to help out if I can, so get something sent in!

Hmm, interesting.
If I can manage to get some time to myself with my home recording set up I might think about it.

If I don't get time, I could submit something I wrote and recorded a few years ago with a band.
It's a bit...heavy, though!

Drat. I forgot to take the minidisk player I use at work home last week, and I am on sick leave until the end of the week (at least). It would have been fun to experiment a bit with improvisation. But I have no other means of recording.

Anything you like, but as I say, the competition will remain open for a good while to give people time. It's up to you.

No rush Noodles, take your time, I'm looking forward to hearing some cello.

I am not promising anything, but I'll see what I can do. I hate to give you more work, but if I manage to get something together, would you be able to make an MP3 of it if I'd send you the minidisk? I could also put it on a tape if that's better for you. I don't have the tools to do that myself, and I don't think I know anyone here who does either.

Hi starr, did you manage to kill that annoying restart thing I seem
to have collected on my mp3's? If you listened, you will see they
start over for a few seconds, don't know why. Can you delete those
few seconds of startover?
Thanks. Don

I won't actually look at the files until I'm ready to put them up. When I do, I'll see to that issues, yes.

Would MD retain better quality when converted to mp3? If so I'm happy to help as I can convert MD to mp3.
