Great idea, good luck with the competition! I won't be able to participate as I lack both the time and the equipment to transfer a recording to the computer, but if the competition is a success and you decide to have another round, I might try to get something in. It would be an interesting challenge, as I play mostly music composed by others. The only composition I have ever written myself and played in public was a piece written for a performance together with a mime. I have done some improvisation, but seldom in public. I do a lot of improvisation and song-writing in music therapy, but while some kids can get very enthusiastic about a very simple song with a thrilling text like "Martin is playing the drum", I don't think it would be received very well here...

that can accept mp3 or do we just e them over to you, starmann?

1) Record it into a tape recorder or some such and then ask a friend who can, to put it onto CD for you. You can then rip itonto your PC
2) Download a free audio software such as:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about/
Which are fairly simple to use and will basically set you off on your first journey into home music production. I am willing to give as much help as possible to get this competition rolling, so don't worry if it all seems a bit confusing."
Easier said than done, though...
