W00t!

I got my 3, well actually 4, but I can't decide which blue one to enter. 😞

Cool! If you can't decide, throw a dice. And send the other one in for the non-voting section.

I'll have an entry for the yellow category, but I'm not sure if I'll come up with something for the other colours.

Hadn't you considered a picture for the red category?

Ragnorak, did you die yet? 😲

I better do it tonight. I'm in London on the 16th. You should have them shortly.

Hi, did you have time to read my PM, about which software suite you used for photo manipulation?
BTW, my wife's camera, an Olympus E500, has just suffered a disaster, one of the little pins for the flash card bent over, it's under warrenty, but don't know if something like that is covered. I don't think you can just bend the pin back because that is an area I do know about, when those kind of pins bend and especially to 90 degrees like this one, if you bend it back it doesn't come back straight and is likely to break in the process of bending it back. Sucks actually. In order to fix it properly, the entire pin set needs to be replaced, don't know if they will do that. It kills the camera pretty much totally till that gets fixed. It happened just a few minutes before Jonathan and Andrews graduation ceremony (HS) and I had to use our back up film camera, an EOS rebel, nice one but now that we use digital it seems so 20th century, can't see if the pic is ok, etc.

Did you get mine? I think I'll add one to the Blue non-voting section.

Update on the camera: Olympus E500, it turns out there are two card slots, the bigger one has pins but there is a smaller one with only sliders, nothing to bend over. It also turns out that the bent pin thing is not covered by warrenty and the fix, replacing the entire connector which is what I knew would be the only way to fix it right, costs $150 US. One thing I just found out, Olympus world headquarters is right here in the Lehigh Valley (North of Philadelphia about 70 miles) and in about a year all repairs for Olympus cameras will also be done here but for now, it would be off to the Phillipines or somewhere like that, 6 weeks without a camera. So with all that in mind, the second card reader has a slot 1/3 the size of the CF card, no pins and now a 2 Gig
card cost's $70 US. So we are back in business, just ignoring the bent pin! When is the last day of the contest? I may be able to do a green or something. See ya love.

Yes, sorry, didn't get around to replying right away. Actually it's probably best to answer it here, so that others can contribute as well. I am not much into more advanced picture manipulation, so I haven't looked much into software for that.

I use Adobe Photoshop 5.0 LE (which came with one of my scanners or printers) on my desktop computer. On my laptop I have installed Gimp (freeware) and try to get used to it, but I don't find it very intuitive. I used to use Irfan View (which is free) a lot for simple jobs like resizing, it's very simple and very practical if you want to do the same thing to a batch of pictures. However, I have found that it often creates artefacts or stripes, so I don't use it very much anymore for picture manipulation. I still use it to view pictures and to create thumbnails, and the photo comp page is modified from a page created by Irfan View.

P.S.: I still need titles and comments (the latter is optional, but recommended) for your entries.
