Okay, RC, here's a poem.

I thought the 'net would set me free
To soar aloft on virtual wings,
Always learning, never bored,
Always sailing, never moored.
I was wrong, my wings are pinned.
Like a moth I hang suspended,
No more soaring, sailing ended.
Life is passing, flashing by,
Yet I sit and play at chess.
Pinned to Caissa's checkered board
Like a moth that's been collected.
What a laugh, the joke's on me,
I thought the 'net would set me free.

I'm amazed that expressiveoutburst, and freddie2006 havent turned this thread into "handbags at 10 paces" yet, they seem to have done it to all the others.

how do you vote on the poems?

(15 pages is a bit much right now)

You read them, and then pick your favourite three. Of those three, you rate each on a scale of 1 (worst of the favourite 3) to 10 (best).

Thank Whale for another voter, and thank you for voting!

Thank you, RC. I usually don't look at the General Forum and didn't really know there was a competition until I found out in the WOrld Cup thread.

Hang on, something good came of OPERATION FOOTBALL THREAD FREEDOM?!?

If this one ever gets sorted out, I'm going to run another verse competition more seriously in the next few months. If you like, I'll PM you when I set it up.

Yes, do that. When I played more on the Caissa site we had a competition every year. People voted and the winner was named poet laureate for the year. That was one of the poems I had written for Caissa competition a couple of years ago.

I like that idea. I should offer some sort of reward or title for the winner (there were two verse competitions about a year ago, but they were marred by plagiarism).
