Gawd, we have 6 days to do initial moves. People can just reread Rob's first posts in the MD thread for the basics; I wanna kill something!
Originally posted by PalynkaAmphibious Modifier - When you do an amphibious invasion i.e. land troops by sea, generally your Combat strength is reduced. In this case, the unit would get only 70% of its stated value.
Amphibious Modifier: 70%
Marine Modifier: 50%
Scouting: 66%/22%
Weight: 4
Fighting Space Used: 4
Commander Bonus: Mounted Tactics
Can anyone make a quick overview of these characteristics?
Marine Modifier - Same as above but for sea battles where you have assigned your troops to fight as marines on ships.
Scouting - The first number refers to your possibility of being able to see troops in provinces adjacent to your unit. The second number refers to the possibility of seeing troops in provinces adjacent to the province adjacent to yours.
Weight - Your ships can carry a certain amout of "storage" i.e. land units. "Weight" is how much each unit contributes to the storage maximum.
Fighting Space Used - Some ships have a marine capability i.e. troops can fight as marines from them. This number is how much each unit contributes to the Marine capability.
Commander Bonus - Commanders have separate ratings that add to the combat strengths of units for Infantry, Mounted and Naval tactics. In this case, the rating for Mounted Tactics would be used to increase the unit's Combat Strength (if and when you build a Commander or whatever they call it in this game).

Originally posted by PalynkaAlso worth knowing: Fleets have Storage and Weight ratings that affect the fleet’s ability to move. Storage represents the ability to carry things. For example, a fleet has ships with cargo holds. Weight represents the mass, bulkiness and difficulty of carrying a type of troops. Each ship has a different storage. For fleets, the total storage is the storage of all ships added together. If a fleet has more weight than storage capacity, then the fleet will have to dump excess soldiers overboard, until there is enough storage to contain the total weight of all troops loaded aboard. You cannot load an army onto a fleet if the weight of the army is 50% more than the storage of the fleet. But, you can perform transfers between fleets regardless of how this will affect the weight stowed aboard the fleet. But be careful, if a fleet has less storage space than weight (this can happen if a fleet loses ships in a battle or transfers ships out of the fleet), this will cause soldiers to have to be thrown overboard! Commanders have no weight, so this is not a worry for them.
Thanks.
Troops have varying weights, depending on their size and number. For example, an archer has a weight of only 1, while heavy cavalry weighs 2!

Q2: Yes.
Q3: You shouldn't; click on the Province on the map and it will state what sea zones your ships can go to.
Q4: We'll see.

Yeah, what's the deal? Why can't I see the locations of other (non independant) clans? How do I know who I'd like to offer alliances to?
Rbmorris I guess that you are an honourable clan well positioned in respect to myself and I would like to form an alliance.
