There's no knowledge of other provinces at the start of the game because of the way this game is structured. In the previous games, the scouting was either apparent (MD) or by sharing recon/spies (Dragon). In this one, your troops cannot even see the next provinces without you ordering them to scout/search, so attacks need real lief style scouting before they can be enacted. Send out your spies/scouts etc to gain recon.
Originally posted by MIODudeOkay, slight rephrase, you have a percentage search likelyhood. I'm not sure, but you may be given certain provinces to start with, I'll have to go back to the rules on tis one, but I remember from the intro-info that the emphasis on this game is scouting and that it is different to both dragonlords and MD.
i can see the provinces around me

With spies, if they are concealed and you move into an independant/enemy province, the order comes up as 'invade ...'.
Is it invade as in stealthily sneak in undetected or invade as in fight?
Originally posted by StarrmanCheers - I'll do the same - it makes sense that spies would be reserved for other players' provinces.

Originally posted by StarrmanIn Galactic Warlords, independents don't search for concealed units, so you can send them into Independent provinces with impunity. They just cannot take over the provinces while concealed as they cannot fight. I assume that is the same here.

To clarify, your units "scout" i.e. attempt to discover the presence of foreign troops in provinces up to two provinces away automatically; there is no "scout" order. "Searching" requires an order and is looking for units which have concealed themselves.
Originally posted by no1marauderHmm - as the order comes as 'invade' I'm not sure. The spy being concealed should be able to move through but it would be an expensive and annoying way to find out if it couldn't.

Originally posted by treetalkSince you can't know if an unscouted province belongs to an independent or another player, I fail to see what use spies would be if they can be destroyed by "invading" an independent province when they are concealed.
😀 You give it a shot this turn and let me know how it turns out - brave pioneering spirit and all. 😀
