I think the answer is no, but I am not sure.

EDIT - Is there any kind of map showing the start positions?

I've seen an option to do it in the rulebook, so it's possible.

I'm probably being too nice and some of the names don't match, but here is a map of 1560 Japan showing the location of the various warlords' holdings. http://www.samurai-archives.com/1560.html

It seems to be generally accurate; I was able to figure out where my nephew's realm was by using it.

Yup. I could tell you who I am, but I'll let ya guess. I figure your home provinces are around 11 and 12 or whereabouts.

Issue one every turn definitely.

Avoid the gibberish and profanity and you'll be right.

eg

I see the peasants from Clan Tokugawa are amassing on my eastern border. Be warned: step out of line and heads will roll should be taken quite literally ...

Crud like that'll work.
My samurai took exception to being called peasants.

I tried to talk them out of it, but you are now officially an enemy of the Tokugawa...

I'm Takeda. Who's Uesugi?

Edit - Apparently it's Bosse de Nage. All I need to do is find where Kawanakajima is so I can kick his but.

I'm working on a blank map... taking a while though.. cut and paste.. cut and paste.. then I have to clear out the green so that we can actually colour things in... then I get it all nice, and one of my 2 yr old daughters walk up and hit keys on the keyboard and I have to backtrack.. so.. don't expect it end of day or anything 😉

Tie her to a kitchen stool. That helps to keep the little buggers out of the way. Use a metal chain or they'll chew it.

I'm playing in Dragonlords dude.

But just incase theres any doubt, you don't get the option to set sail in an army.

The biggest time waster on the map is that i put my screen in 1280x1024 so that I wouldn't need 50 cut and pastes to get the map.. but now the Numbers and bodies of water names are unreadable.. so I'm now back in 1024x768 re-cutting and pasting just the numbers and names so they are readable.. lol

If you have ships that can't get to sea just salvage them; you'll get 1/3 their Gold value and they're worthless to you now.

thanks buddy, i will do that.

I have another fortification right next to the sea, my guess is that it is a mistake. As this is a new game that has only just been play tested last week, that sounds about right.
Do you think i should contact the GM on this ?
