You slammed on your breaks in interstate traffic. It's unnecessary, jerksome and superfluous. And it doesn't take an aptitude for transcendental logic to acquire insight into that fact. What's really strange is that you felt bad about it only when it turned out to be an old woman...and not because of any insight into your own asshattery.
Even assuming you weren't blocking traffic....that you were even in the far right lane, your "response" is still unjustifiable..... especially since a resulting accident could have caused quite a bit of collateral damage.
