The Kalmar Union was a political structure, not a geographical location, and it no longer exists. If you said "Kalmar Union" I would have understood you meant the union of Norway, Sweden and Denmark which no longer exists. Likewise, if you said "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" I would have understood you.

Sweden is not Kalma ...[text shortened]... ot Britain. Britain was UNITED with Scotland. That's why it's called the UNITED kingdom.
i see you googled kalmar lol

i guess you think the ussr is still united 🙄

Trev33, I've never heard anyone on the Island of Great Britain refer to Britain as including N.I. Is this something that they only do in N.I. that you're trying to pass off as universal?

no. it's offical... just because people don't refer to it doesn't make it false. people on the island of great britain are generally ignorant to n.i anyway so i'm not surprised in the slightest...

it's pretty simple really... you call your passport 'brittish' right? what does it say on the front?

I'm one of those people who used to correct other people when they called the USSR 'Russia' 😉

N. Ireland is part of what's left of the British Empire, but they don't call it that anymore...The North Irish are ethnically Anglo-British usually. That doesn't mean they live in Britain!

You keep pointing out that some people use the word 'British' incorrectly and then acting as though you'd proven something. The passport itself isn't titled 'British Passport' or 'Britain'. It refers to Great Britain and Northern Ireland as two distinct entities.

your idea of 'britain' might have been true years ago but now rightly or wrongly (the latter) now the whole of the u.k. is officially 'britain'. that's just the fact.

now lets relax 😉
