I live in Stephen King's hometown and I have to say that Mr. King and his wife Tabitha are incredibly generous to the community, spending many millions of dollars among a number of projects including a very expensive renovatiion of the old city library and building a great ballpark for local kids which also hosts the Senior League World Series. He's about as regular folks as you're going to find.

It's good, but if you want King at his most chatty, witty and discursive, Danse Macabre is much the better ANF title.
at the end it had the opening from 1408, first draft and the second one with king's handwritten corrections. very illuminating. the first draft was, in short, crap. it was amazing how bad his raw material was. the second draft was already pretty okay, after some very simple and straightforward changes he'd adviced about before. cut the adverbs, cut everything irrelevant to the story. that was most of it, and it really made a huge difference. interesting.
you always hear things like "don't get it right, get it written", but still tend to think the pros write pretty damn well even the first draft. nice to see that at least some of them don't.
I'll check danse macabre out at some point. it looks interesting, judging by the little I googled up.
